Dear Bioware,

As per topic errors causing my game to crash:
Unhandled exception at 0x774615ee in MassEffect2.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.
Unhandled exception at 0x774615ee in MassEffect2.exe: 0x00000000: The operation completed successfully.

And the action at that memory address:

774615EE  add         esp,4 

Completely stuck, beaten this mission about 15 times now and every time I get to the post mission summary and click the EXIT button at the bottom right the game crashes.

My Rig:

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64-bit
GeForce 560 Ti
16GB DDR3-PC1600
Intel i7-2600K 3.4GHz
Intel 510 SSD
ASUS XONAR DX PCI-e Sound Card
ASUS Sabertooth P67 Motherboard

I have tried the nVidia 266.66 drivers, 267.26 beta and 270.51 beta drivers, no change.

I have also played through the mission with audio disabled from the Mass Effect Config setup (Audio: Off), no change either.

This version of Mass Effect is the EADM version provided by the me2offer promotion (order Dragon Age 2 and get ME2 for free).

I just bought all the DLC's for ME2 as the Promotion hooked me, I am very upset that this crash has stopped me dead in my tracks.

If there is any other information I can provide please let me know.

An update from EA technical support:

Please note the suggestion from the Senior Technical Support did not resolve the issue as I suspected.

I am completely stuck here Bioware please help, the EA people just dont seem to know how to resolve this.

2300445519: Yes I can try that, however on the auspice that downloading another 1gb+ file will do nothing other then increase my internet usage bill. Based on the url I posted with the details of my problem can you offer any other insight as to potential problems?
Jeffrey B: Honesty, the error looks as if it is a corrupt download or installation. As a Mass Effect 2 gamer myself, I have experienced this. The resolution for me was to redownload the DLC .exe file and reinstall it.

2300445519: is it just a straight overwrite ?
Jeffrey B: You can overwrite it and it should correct the corruption.
2300445519: One thing I have read on google is several people talking about clearing their shader cache. Is that relevant to mass effect 2 ?

Jeffrey B: Great. I would recommend redownloading and reinstalling the content directly from the website then.

Jeffrey B: What anti-virus programs do you have installed?
2300445519: None at the moment, this is a clean install from 2 days ago.
Jeffrey B: The only other thing I could suggest is clean booting the PC, disabling the UAC and running as an administrator. Let me get those steps.

There is no Bioware or EA oversight here. After the first patch, even the rare interaction between anyone from Bioware and the users ended. You want anything official in the way of tech assistance, you go to EA Help.

Having the same issue. Crashing after hitting Exit on the mission summary. Anyone got a fix yet?

EDIT: The issue has been SOLVED. For some reason I can't post a new reply about it, so I'm editing this one. Hopefully people see it.

All you need to do is add -nomoviestartup to the end of the Target field in your ME2.exe shortcut. Make sure it's not the launcher shortcut, just the one straight to the executable for the game. Also remember to remove it when you finish the mission as it removes more than just the intro cinematics. It gets rid of some in game cinematics.
