Uh, guise? I'm pretty sure the topic should be Athenril, who is almost certainly female. And kinda sexy.

The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

The pounding on the door is loud. The elf is just as taken aback by this new development as you are. The room was supposed to be private. No distractions. So who is this? It's getting louder, but you cannot pound back nor say a word because the elf has tied you to the mahogany chair situated by the fireplace, gagging you as well.

"Hawke! Hawke! Damnit Hawke this is no time for games!"

The voice is unmistakable. It has an edge to it. The voice is obviously feminine, but the edge in it marks it as a voice of someone who can handle themselves in a fight should the need arise. It has an unfathomable degree of sexiness to it. You know who it is.

"Hawke! It's me, Athenril! Open this blasted door now!"

"Athenril help!" Despite being gagged, you manage to shout out her name, albeit it still sounds like a jarbled mess.

The door bursts off of its' rusty hinges, the oaken frame now little more than a doormat. The level of joy you feel as you see her face is overwhelming. Her beautiful face shining in the light. Just then you see another vision of loveliness. Your soon-to-be spouse, Merrill. It seems they both love you and have agreed to both be yours. Luck is on your side it seems.

"Hawke, use this to cut yourself free!" she exclaims as she tosses you a dagger. You pull it from its' sheath and immediately cut yourself free.

"Thanks Athenril. Today is just not my day. I thought drinking ale that reeked of stale ****** was all the torture I'd have to endure."

"Yeah well don't go making this a regular thing. Do it again and I'll let him have his way with you. You may be a decent mage, but I'm not going to keep busting down doors just because you're too drunk to recognize a male from a female."

"In my defense, he was a really good looking female elf."

"Let's get going, Hawke." Merrill tells you in her loving way.

"Never!" the elf exclaimed in an angry voice that reverberated all throughout the room.

The whole foundation was shaking. What was happening? A powerful gust of wind swept through and violently broke all the windows, the doors now shaking open and closed, and the flames of the candles now went out. Serendipity dropped to the ground, on both hands and knees, cast aglow in a brimming crimson aura.

After the wind subsides and the light dies down, you see the elf for what he truly is. A Desire Demon most foul. More powerful than any of the other foes you've fought. The other patrons of the esteemed brothel are now fleeing for their lives. This demon has been using the life force of other unfortunate people to make herself more powerful. This has to be the reason why you couldn't tell she was a demon in disguise.

"You just had to get involved with a demon didn't you Hawke?" Athenril said in her usual feisty demeanor

"Now I'm wondering what sex with a Desire Demon would've been like. Especially with those horns. Could give me something to hold onto. Shame those three sovereigns are gonna go to waste..."

"Hawke!"

"You're right, Merrill. Three sovereigns was too much. Should've paid fifty silver."

"Um.... can we focus on surviving and discuss the monetary value of ****s later?"

"Oh right. Sorry."

"Fools. I've killed many people before you. Some of them were mages too. You think you can defeat me?" the demon responded. Her arrogance was showing, but you were afraid it might not be unfounded arrogance.

Swift as a cat, Athenril leapt fearlessly towards the Desire Demon, a pair of wicked daggers already in her hands.

She never got close however, as the powerful demon reached up with a hand and Athenril was abruptly sent flying in the opposite direction.

"Athenril!" you cried as you jumped into her path. Even with your body buffeting the blow, the impact sent the two of you crashing against the wall, but you know that she would have been badly hurt otherwise.

"My arm...can't move..." she muttered weakly.

The room went alit with brillance flashes of light as Merrill and the desire demon sent magical bolts at each other. She bradished the Vir Tarsallan staff in her lithe hands expertly, every move sending a jagged twirl of emerald energy stabbing in the direction of the demon.

The desire demon raised her hands, and immediately violet swirls of demonic energy materialized out of the air to meet Merrill's attacks.

On and on they traded blows, with none having the advantage.

You gently muttered incantations and allowed a tilde of healing energy to wash over Athenril. She moaned in pain initially as the healing wave touched her arm, then relaxed and let out a breath of relief as the injury was gone.

"Better?" you asked.

"Better." she replied and, without waiting for your call, snatched her daggers up and dashed at the desire demon.

Seeing that she was outnumbered, the desire demon merely scowled and waved her hand once.

Whirlpools of dark energy suddenly emerged all over the room- there had to be a dozen or so.

You groaned, knowing what was about to come. Shades.

Shadowry hunched forms rose from the whirlpools and stretched, then turned their ugly heads curiously to look at the fighting scene around them.

You didn't waste a single second as you unleashed a torrent of freezing blast at the nearest few demons, but the rest were already closing in on Athenril and Merrill.

Athenril gave a shout of frustration as three shades surrounded her, preventing her from reaching the Desire Demon. She spun around, her blades singing as they flew in a circle around her, slicing the shades.

Meanwhile, Merrill was visibly straining against the desire demon as the shades hammered at the shield she had threw up seconds before.

"Give it up mortals...you cannot win. Not against me and my pets." Desire whispered suddenly. It was a voice that forced itself into your mind, and despite your resistance, you feel your strength and anger waning.

Glancing around, you realised Merrill and Athenril were similarly affected.

The shades however, had stopped attacking. The Desire Demon clearly wanted something.

"I know exactly what it is you desire..."

"I know exactly what it is you desire..."

"Oh this'll be good..." Athenril said sarcastically.

Hawke rushed over to Merrill's side, as she collapsed to the floor the moment the shades stopped their relentless assault.

"Merrill, how are you holding up?" Hawke asked with concern, hoping she wasn't injured.

"I'm fine, Hawke. She called off those shades just before I had to drop my barrier."

"Pitiful mortals, foolishly thinking I would fight you all alone." the demon said triumphantly. She then let out a sinister laugh. "You desire power. You desire love. You want to keep living your pathetic lives. I offer you all of these things and more. All I ask in return is that you leave me be and I will dismiss these shades and continue on as if none of this had ever transpired."

Athenril was pacing around the room, desperately trying to restrain herself from throwing her dagger into the spirit's face, although Hawke was almost wishing she would.

"You know", Athenril said with vigor, "a blind nug could see that any deal with you would eventually go bad."

"So you're refusing?"

"No. Just thought I'd point out that you're most likely a two-timing b!tch. I'll leave the decision to Hawke."

"Now that's not nice! Don't call her that, Athenril!" Merrill said unaware that demon didn't really care.

"Merrill, she's a demon. Of desire. B!tchiness is practically her virtue." Hawke says with displeasure in his tone due to what Merrill just uttered.

"I know she's a spirit Hawke. But it's just so mean."

Hawke then proceeded to rub his fingers between his eyes, contemplating how to react. The demon could care less whether she was called names or a fluffy bunny. Finally, Hawke decided to just move past it.

"I'm waiting." the demon said with a growing lack of patience.

You consult your two beautiful elven allies on how to act. The discussion is intense, with jokes thrown in to lighten the mood of things. Ultimately, you agree on the best course of action.

"No thank you. We'll pass on the deal, lovely as it may be."

"Then you shall die here! Shades, destroy them!"

The shades now begin their assault anew. Hawke was lucky to reduce their numbers from a dozen to six, but the fight was only just beginning. Merrill uses her magic to force a huge section of the wall out and fires it at a shade, sending the demonic entity back to the Fade where it belongs.

Athenril is now moving quickly across the bedroom, stabbing three demons repeatedly. She coated her blades in a special concoction that cast them aflame during the discussion. The shades are now burning vehemently, unable to attack. She now uses this to her advantage and unleashes a barrage of violent physical attacks. Finally, Hawke unleashes a miniature storm overhead that strikes these shades with bolts of vicious lightning, sending them back to the Fade as well.

Now all that remains are the last two shades and the demon. The battlefield is even, three against three....

Hey Fieryeel, do you think we should change the "You" to "Hawke"? You think that would work better? Because not everyone's really a Merrill romancer.

Hey Fieryeel, do you think we should change the "You" to "Hawke"? You think that would work better? Because not everyone's really a Merrill romancer.

Hawke thrusted the blunt end of his Parthalan Staff and a bolt of lightning pierced through the head of the Shade(if indeed, there was a head under that shadowy hood) like a sword. It shuddered for a moment, then collapsed within itself into a puddle of darkness which dissipated.

Already, Athenril was standing victorious over the other dying shade.

"Just you left then." the sexy rogue remarked coolly.

Without waiting for Desire's response, she hurled a dagger at the demon's exposed throat.

The blade whizzed through the air. Desire simply smiled, and the weapon literally bounced off the air mere centimetres from her neck.

The demon snapped her fingers and the dagger abruptly froze in mid-fly, shuddered then shattered into dozens of metal fragments before their stunned faces.

The air in front of Desire rippled as if one had dropped a pebble into a calm pool of water.

"A force field...an incredibly potent one." Merrill declared.

Letting out a snarl of rage at her destroyed weapon, Athenril charged at Desire, her other good dagger gleaming and ready to draw blood.

"Oh my! How barbaric!" Desire mocked as she waved her hand again.

Recognizing the same attack as before, Athenril attempted to leap to the side, but the surge of energy had already slammed into her, sending her crashing into the bed in a heap.

Hawke roared in anger at the sight of his fallen lover and lashed out with his hand. A great stone projectile materialized and flew at Desire.

Just like the dagger, the magical boulder suddenly struck an invisible shield and exploded into a dust of rock. Unwilling to relent, Hawke unleashed a surge of power, striking at Desire with powerful spells of ice, lightning and fire. Yet all he achieved was a confirmation of the sheer inperviability of her defense.

"Hawke...don't waste your effort. The only way to get through that force field is through a melee attack." Merrill said.

"Aren't you quite the clever knife-eared mage? Now COWER BEFORE DESIRE!!!" the demon hissed wickedly and raised both her hands.

Violet coils of energy lashed out at Merrill with amazing speed, striking her with so much power she was momentarily lifted in the air, then she was thrown onto the floor. The onslaught was not over yet, as rays of violet energy now danced across Merrill's spasming body and she threw her head back, screaming in agony.

"YOU B!TCH!!!" Hawke bellowed as he dashed towards Desire, narrowing dodging a stray coil of energy before pointing the blunt end of the staff at Desire's face and blasting her with lightning at point blank.

The lightning bolt streaked in an arc around Desire's form trying to find a way to pierce through, before finally forking in multiple directions futilely.

"Oh come now!" Desire taunted dangerously. "You know your magic have no use against me."

"No. But this one surely will!" Hawke abruptly swung with the bladed end of his staff. Desire's eyes widened in shock, having not expected the mage to attack her in that fashion.  The blade danced across the air, slicing Desire's hand clean off in a shower of ichor and blood.

Desire shrieked in pain and shock, a horrible keening wail that nearly deafened Hawke. Before he could follow up with a second slash, an incredibly shockwave of power blasted him away.

Desire stared at the bleeding stump of her hand in disbelief, then her shock turned into anger.

"You will pay! I will take away everything you ever will desire!" the demon growled.

Before Hawke's horrified eyes, a new wave of sinister energy emancipated from her glowing body and the entire world seem to grow dark.

Desire suddenly gasped, and the magic from her died down abruptly. She convulsed helplessly and her expression was one of anguish.

It was now then that Hawke noticed the pointed tip of a dagger protruding from Desire's chest.

"That for destroying one of my precious daggers." Athenril said, appearing suddenly from behind Desire. She had somehow snuck up behind Desire while the demon was too busily concentrating on Hawke, and plunged her remaining dagger into Desire's spine from behind.

"This for hurting me." Athenril smiled wickedly, then push the dagger even further through Desire's body. The demon's mouth opened in sheer torment, but she could not even summon the energy to scream.

"And this one..." Athenril ripped the dagger from Desire's body, and the demon knelt on the floor. "IS FOR HURTING MY LOVER!!!" and with a final slash, Athenril decapitated her foe.

Desire's head flew through the air, her blood spraying out onto both Hawke and Athenril. As the head finally hit the ground, Desire's entire body burst into a controlled flame. What remained of the battle now seemed to disappear back into the Fade, leaving nothing in its place. Not even ashes.

Hawke let out a sigh of relief and placed the Staff of Parthalan on his back.

"Varric's gonna enjoy this story." Athenril joked.

"He'll probably add a few falsehoods to it to spice it up."

Merrill fell to the ground once again, and this time she wasn't moving. Hawke rushed over to her side. She laid there, unconscious and barely breathing.

"Her injuries are severe, it seems. Too severe for me to heal her Athenril." Hawke said, feeling useless as he stared down at his love's motionless body.

Athenril then rushed over to Merrill's side, picking Merrill up to carry her on her back. Merrill's hands were barely clasped around Athenril's chest. Her legs only being held up by Athenril's own strength. If they were lucky, they could reach the one place where Merrill could be healed without any other distractions.

"So what's the plan, Hawke?"

"I have a contact by the Docks. Actually several. We were supposed to make our way out of Kirkwall after that fiasco down by the Gallows, but I first stopped into the Hanged Man for some drinks. I was on my way to the estate to tell Charade she would be in charge in my absence, but how I ended up here in the Rose I don't know. It might be due to equal parts my fault and Desire casting a spell on me." Hawke said describing the events that led to this abominable nightmare.

"Don't worry about it." Athenril calmly expressed, soothing your mind. "It's in the past, and as long as you don't do it again Merrill and I won't have to cut off your balls."

"At any rate, let's quickly head to my Estate so I can talk to Charade. Wait for me by the entrance of Lowtown."

"Ok." Athenril said agreeing with Hawke.

Leaving the Rose, Hawke noticed that the Hightown streets have emptied out. No doubt it's either due to the late hours of the night or the fact that many of the Rose's patrons fled into the streets, panicking for their lives after seeing a demon. At least Hawke didn't have to worry about any more surprises. For the time being anyway. Finally, Hawke and Athenril split up as Hawke reached the entrance to the Amell estate.

"I'll be waiting for you Hawke." Athenril eagerly told her lover.

The Amell estate was as radiant as ever in the moonlight. Unlocking the pristine door, you enter the doorway to find Charade and Gamlen waiting. The estate was still clean from when Bodahn last left it. Now the only servant in the house was Orana, who had begun to become a little accustomed to not being a slave. You could hear Bodahn's letter play out in your head.

Messere Hawke,

It is time for me and my boy Sandal to move on to Orlais. Thank you for all the care you have shown us. Hopefully Orlais and Ferelden won't come to war once again, but should that happen rest assured we will remain neutral. My boy doesn't want his enchantments to be used against your homeland. I'm sure Empress Celene will understand. She seems like a reasonable woman. Anyway, it is with both fond memories and deep regret that I take my leave of you and your esteemed friends. Sandal is already upset that we'll be leaving now. He's grown really attached to you. I haven't seen him this sad since we left the Hero of Ferelden's company. Lastly, regarding recent events...

What you did at the Gallows was truly noble indeed, standing up to the Templars.

May you avoid capture by your pursuers. If you ever need a place to stay in Orlais, just drop on by.

Sincerely,

Bodahn Feddic, Merchant Extroardinaire
Sandal Feddic, Enchantment!

Entering the main foyer, Gamlen shows concern for Hawke.

"So you're really leaving, eh boy?"

"Yes Uncle I have to. If I wasn't being forced to I would stay here, but this is for the best. I don't want you getting involved in this when you don't have to." Hawke said for once in a sincere and non-sarcastic manner to his Uncle

"Be safe Cousin." Charade said, holding back the tears in her eyes and embracing Gamlen for support.

"I will. Take care of the estate. I'll send you letters every now and then, under an alias."

"What will it be?" Charade asked.

"You'll both know. Anyway, it's time for me to head down to the Docks. I have an appointment to keep with a doctor."

"Take care, my boy. We won't tell them anything."

And Hawke then left the estate and ran down to the Docks. Awaiting on the pier were all of his closest friends. Merrill was healed and ran towards the man she loved, all thanks to Anders' magic. Behind Hawke's companions was a gigantic ship, jet black with the purest white sails. There must have been between a dozen to fifteen sails. Emblazoned on the side of the ship were the words The Siren's Call II.

"Well well, it's about time you showed up you sack of ****." Isabella's sultry voice shouted as she was walking down to the pier. "I was afraid my new ship would've been destroyed by the Templars before we even set sail."

"Sorry to keep you, but we got held up."

"Held up? No no no Hawke, held up is stepping in nug **** and washing if off of your boots." Varric joked. "No there's definitely a story here."

"I'll tell you once we set sail."

"Oh I've always wanted to sail on the open ocean!" Merrill jumped around excitedly, forgetting she was injured still. "Owww....."

"Right. Let's set sail!" the captain shouted to her crewmen, who were all scurrying to their posts.

And with that, Aveline, Donnic, Isabella, Fenris, Varric, Anders, Merrill, Athenril, and Carver boarded the ship, followed by Hawke bidding Kirkwall a fond and final farewell.

Athenril was hot. But there are other hot elves out there. Merrill, (don't like her romance outfit though), Porfiria, whats her face, (the prostitute who pretends to be Fade Spirit), Arianni had a bitof a MILF thing going on. And someone else, but I just can't remember her name....

This bothered me when I first read it, but now it is just amusing. My thought process stopped at 'well this nice lady seems worried, better help'.

I had a crush on Shianni in Origins (I played a Male Cousland, yeah I saw where that was going ಠ_ಠ)

I have a thing for minor elf characters.

Arianni had a bitof a MILF thing going on.

This bothered me when I first read it, but now it is just amusing. My thought process stopped at 'well this nice lady seems worried, better help'.

I had a crush on Shianni in Origins (I played a Male Cousland, yeah I saw where that was going ಠ_ಠ)

I have a thing for minor elf characters.

you're not the only one who had a thing for Shianni. I did too.

I also had one for Gheyna. Thankfully I can boink her. What's his face the elf (Cammen?) doesn't deserve her.

And Iona. I wonder if Iona lives or might've escaped if you didn't bed her.

Elven women are awesome.

No, but if you follow this tutorial you can add Athenril as a companion.

As cool as it would be to have Athenril join the squad, I doubt her dialogue is any good. The companion mods for Origins weren't good either.

no dialogue, her combat war cries are Anders' but people are looking into how to make this character silent. the files have been found, they are just trying to figure out how to edit 'em.

Athenril is awesome. Loved her character---very fresh take on an elf.

I can't imagine the dialogue being much better even with the edit. It's a cool idea, but I can't imagine having too much fun with it. Beyond the initial reaction of 'oh cool Athenril is running around with me in-game'.

I'm surprised at the lack of 'mod the Isabela romance scene to replace her with Athenril'. That I've seen, anyway.

Did I say surprised? I meant disappointed. Get to it, talented people.
