She's lovely, charming, and runs a respectable business, as un-respectable businesses go.
She was a wonderful NPC. And in my mind, she and my Hawke maintain contact as the years go by, especially after Hawke starts really pulling strings for the mages. Who better to know when you're trying to get apostates out of the Gallows than a smuggler and all-around awesome underworld crime boss?

I'm surprised at the lack of 'mod the Isabela romance scene to replace her with Athenril'. That I've seen, anyway.
Did I say surprised? I meant disappointed. Get to it, talented people.
In addition to that.

Athenril's attitude during Loose Ends rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't kill her, but I didn't spare a second thought to telling Pryce to run off with her goods.

I hope you lied to her about Pryce, because she should never die. She's far too awesome to ever die.
My only problem with Loose Ends was my Hawke shoving Pryce out of the way and not caring about him, and then tossing what I'm guessing was a silver to the kid. Not sure if it was due to being an aggressive Hawke or what.
So I gave Pryce the goods because of how douchey my Hawke acted. Why he actually needed the goods to start a new life as a farmhand I don't know.

That said, I would not be surprised if she was dead by the start of Act 2. Athenril was only able to avoid being eliminated by the Coterie due to Hawke's intervention, and she's desperate enough by the time Loose Ends happens that she needs to employ adolescents like Pryce. She's definitely on the way out.

I tried that once just to see how it would work out, and Hawke acts like a total dick in that scene no matter what his disposition may be. To be fair, though, it IS a dick move on Hawke's part.

I assume he needs coin to buy passage out of the city, plus a little spending cash so he and his sisters don't starve while he looks for a job.

Maker I hope not! As far as I know, Pryce was the only teen she did hire while the rest weren't. She didn't actually offer Pryce the job. Pryce volunteered for it.
Also, the Coterie are experiencing their own problems. There's infighting between the various groups, where some are overstepping their boundaries. I think Athenril's taking advantage of this. She's a smart -- and really sexy -- lady.

True.

Hawke could've just said "Here's a sovereign and some silvers for you to get passage out of the city and some food" instead of being a huge dick.
I mean, Kaitlin was able to go from Redcliffe to Denerim on nothing more than a sovereign, and the kid in Lothering was able to buy some food for one silver.

A sovereign and a few silvers might not stretch as well as you think. And giving Pryce any more cash than that would also defeat the purpose of collecting the goods to return to Athenril for a reward.
Maybe there should be a middle ground there, but not every quest can have multiple solutions.

Kaitlin was also going to stay with relatives in Denerim. The kid in Lothering is a little boy, and in my experience, little kids are always impressed with what we as adults recognize as nominal sums of cash. That silver MIGHT buy him a meal or two, but I doubt it, as there seems to be an overall shortage of supplies.
I think the better solution is to send the boy to the Chantry, as they can at least take care of him.

I always half thought that she was the elf zealot that steals the qunari poison formula. She recognizes Hawke (well, that and she looks really like Athenril, too xD), but she uses a two-handed sword while Athenril is a rogue, and I imagine there would have been some more recognition between Hawke and her if that was actually Athenril.
Also, you can kill Athenril in Act 1. I did.

Ha no it's not Athenril. Though I really do feel bad about killing that Elven woman in that quest. I just wanted to give her a hug and console her
