Not buying DA3 if Mike Laidlaw is still in the lead

I really hope that they move him on some other project.

I don't want him fired, since I am not the kind of person that wishes bad things to other people. Although what he did with DA2 and the way he handles the interviews with bashing DA:O and dismissing everything that is not a praise for the game, certainly doesn't help his case.

All I am saying is that I most certainly will not be pre-ordering/buying if his name is in any way connected with DA3 other than "X replaces Mike Laidlaw as lead designer for DA3".

He simply has no respect for the criticism that comes from the audience that really loved DA:O and made the games a success.

There are some good things about DA2, and he has every right to feel good about them, but they are so few. He and the people responsible for this game would have gained so many points if they just acknowledged that DA2 is simply a dissapointment to many, other than "We hear you what you're saying but no... this is better".

Is that so hard? He who admits guilt, half is forgiven. (a saying from my country)

Civility costs you nothing.

Hostility and insults, however, will earn you a warning at the very least, and perhaps a ban.

Disagree all you like, but treat each other with respect. That's all I ask.

I should also mention - strawmanning is also not acceptable behaviour.

Watchout Warheadz and Everwarden, bioware doesn't like it when you insult one of their lead designers. Even one that has no respect for the customer and is blunt about it in interviews.

If you feel the moderation has been unfair, by all means, let Chris Priestly know.

However, insulting others is not acceptable behaviour, regardless of whether they're developers or your fellow posters. I wasn't aware that this was a controversial notion. Though if you think this is an unfair and despotic edict, then I would suggest that, perhaps, these forums are not for you.

Drogo, please contribute to the discussion in the thread or refrain from posting. That sort of thing does no more for a constructive forum environment than insults or vitriol.

Again. Disagree, but do so civilly. And that includes people who are in favour of the changes in DA2 - referring to the other side as haters or trolls is not acceptable behaviour.

And I'm locking this thread, as it has abandoned what pretense at actual discussion it had and devolved into bickering.

Let me remind you of a few things that might serve you well in future posts.

A) Insults are unacceptable. Period. I don't care if you're in favour of DA2 or against it, if you start insulting other posters you will be warned and subsequently banned.

B) Posts where you simply post links to Youtube spam videos or spam images are unacceptable. They add absolutely zero to the discussion, and are not one tenth as clever as you think they are.

C) Strawmanning is also unacceptable. If you disagree with someone's position, represent it fairly, not as 'I WANT BIOWARE TO CATER DIRECTLY TO ME' or 'I THINK BIOWARE CAN DO NO WRONG'.

And we're done.

ADDENDUM: If you think you're clever by changing a developer's name to something it isn't, you aren't. That falls under heading A.
