I'm normally not an optimist on this topic, but I feel the need to point out how much the Mass Effect team is putting back in to ME3.

Maybe Bioware got the message ( or EA, I mean :P ) and will do the same for DA3.

examples? not that I'm doubting you, but I haven't been keeping up with the ME3 threads.

Arrogant? Mike Laidlaw?

What about the people asking for him to get fired? What authority do they have?

Oh, don't you see? It's obvious! It's different because those people know what's best for Dragon Age.
That's why they are all game designers at BioWare, hard at work trying to maintain some level of creative integrity while simultaneously attempting to satisfy an increasingly self-entitled fanbase.

Consumer authority, mind you. He could be the world's greatest janitor, he's certainly a lousy lead designer.

Except the "classics" or "goty", find me a game where the trend is different. I've seen mostly negative threads about GTA IV and CoD... still, they are some of the best selling games of all time. Mind, I'm not dismissing you and you could be right, but forum trends are not hard facts. Even DA:O received the same treatment (in Bioware's forums too). We will have some evidence on DA2 reception when and if we'll know anything about the future of the franchise.

I honestly can't think of another AAA title that had this amount of hate spewed at it in recent memory. Even New Vegas (a game I love, but that was launched with more bugs than the Amazon rainforest) did not have this amount of rage. Anyone who is willing to watch trends will notice that the anger directed at DA2 is significantly above the average 'hater quota' games all get.

Consumer authority? That doesn't exactly wash in these forums.

In the real world, we call it mobbing.

"I don't recall the mass mobs in the DA:O forums."

Kididn' right? They were also there for BG2, NWN, KOTOR, JE, ME, ME2, and as mentioned DA1.

The BIO forums. The BIO forums never change.

Hating things on the internet is the *easy* 'cool' thing to do.

It was only a matter of time before someone came along and tossed out the word 'entitled'. Bioware isn't giving out charity games to help cure cancer, they're selling a product and people have every right to demand quality in a product that costs money.

I won't list them all or go into detail since this isn't the ME forum:

-larger areas
-weapon mods are back
-powers evolve several times, not just once
-larger skill trees
-more customizaion

That's nice I'm still apathetic towards ME3 in light of Arrival and DA2. More stuff like that could change my mind though.

There are some haters for every bit of media ever released to a relatively large audience, pointing that out isn't an argument and doesn't help your case. DA2 has significantly more hate levied towards it than the average "hater quota", and that is so blatently self-evident that I honestly don't even buy that the people contesting it believe it isn't true.

New Vegas was not dumbed down from Fallout 3 in any way.  As a matter of fact, New Vegas did the complete opposite and was more "hardcore" than FO3.

People aren't upset with the bugs in DA2 (I only encountered a few myself).  We are upset with the direction the game took.  Bugs can be fixed, direction not so much.

I understand. The point I was making was in reply to someone suggesting that every game gets -this- sort of "Haters gonna hate no matter what" reaction. That isn't true, and I was using New Vegas as an example because it was a game that even I admit (being a diehard fan of it) had unacceptable launch problems to demonstrate this. Despite the obvious, objective issues New Vegas had that haters could latch onto, the hater-tide never rose half as high as DA2's has. That was what I was attempting to convey.

So what is the point of this thread? Somebody doesn't like a specific member of the Dragon Age team? That could have been a status update. It didn't need to be a thread.

You obviously weren't around when some of these earlier games. NWN alone had so much slam dunk balls to the walls fighting and dissing and 'bio is doomed' nonsense it makes DA2 forums look like child's play. LMAO

Don't be a n00b.

Who died and made you moderator? How about keep it on topic, agree, disagree, or move on. Your post could also have been a private message to the OP, ya know.

Agreed.

I'm just going to say this.

I loved the story of Dragon Age: Origins. I loved the characters.

But it was a pain in the ass to play it.

The tedious micro-managing of the inventory, the clunky combat, felt like I was playing a game from 1990.

Wake up, people. Bioware is trying to move on from that outdated and stale type of gameplay and I don't blame.

It's 2011. That type of slow-paced, chess-like gameplay has no place in this day and age anymore.

Fixed.
