Fixed.

Not sure how this "fixed" thing started, but if I were a mod, I'd just delete any post that featured it.  Deliberate misquoting for any reason should be grounds for a ban.

As for the whole "DA:O was the story of the Archdemon" thing, you can keep repeating it all you want, it won't make the claim any more true.

Oh, come on. I was just trying to have some fun. Lighten up a bit.

I'm normally not an optimist on this topic, but I feel the need to point out how much the Mass Effect team is putting back in to ME3.

Maybe Bioware got the message ( or EA, I mean :P ) and will do the same for DA3.

Saying that they will up the rpg elements does not make it so, I need more than words.

I certainly hope so.

I have no ultimatum for DA3 other than if it looks good, i'll buy it, if not, i won't. However, maybe a new person with the reigns on the series is exactly what's needed for the future of the franchise.

Or an old person. Like Brent Knowles. Hard to find a man willing to leave a big company on principle if he doesn't believe in the money-grabbing direction the game is heading.

I civilly agree with first poster! Im not buying anything Dragon Age related, not even DLC's without a new Lead Designer. Mike doesnt know, how he hurts the sales of DA in future. If he would have honor he would step back.

He doesnt have the skills to be a game designer. DA2 was the worst Bioware game ever.

I don't believe that Laidlaw's actually ever "bashed" Origins. Furthermore, I've seen "Origins fans" here acting with zero respect and zero class, so frankly, I wouldn't expect that their opinions are ever going to be taken seriously at this point, right or not, because they apparently can't make their point(s) without being insulting. This post isn't even useful feedback about the game or anything else. It's a meaningless threat/posturing. I'm 99.9% sure that BW is unlikely to shift personnel around just because someone feels they weren't catered too enough.

Arrogant? Mike Laidlaw?

What about the people asking for him to get fired? What authority do they have?

The $60 dollars I paid for a Dragon Age game, not Dragon Effect.

If he has honour, he'd laugh in your face, do his job the way his bosses told him to, and continue on his merry way as the dcos count the moolah they made off this game. He'll also thank ya for the money you gave them while laughing at your selfish arrogance. He's done nothing wrong.

Yeah well that's his side of the story. Not calling him a liar or something, just why would you take the word of a stranger for an ultimate truth?

Also, my ultimatum for DA3 would be it shall not be worse than DA2. Or better said it needs to be better to not make this sound too negative.

right... enemies exploding in front of your face, popping out of thin air, that was EA's decision, not Mike Laidlawls.

It's the law of the awesome.
Brent is awesome.
DA2 isn't awesome.
Brent wins.

No matter if he lies or he doesn't, as long as he stays awesome, awesome shall flow his way. If it is unveiled that he lied and isn't awesome, then he isn't awesome. And awesome won't flow his way. It's simple.

Quoted for truth.
Civil disagreement would be the way to actually try to influence thinking at BioWare - presenting your points reasonably and without this sense of entitlement that a good many are displaying. If you didn't like the product, do a write-up on why. Be civil and back up your points with fact whilst being mindful that it is only your opinion. Who knows - you might get someone from BioWare to take what you have to say seriously.

It was only a matter of time before someone came along and tossed out the word 'entitled'. Bioware isn't giving out charity games to help cure cancer, they're selling a product and people have every right to demand quality in a product that costs money.

I would never deny anyone the opportunity to question creative decisions. It's well in their right, and that is perfectly fine. When people start demanding people be fired because they have this delusional idea of a single person as a legitimate scapegoat for what aspects they took issue with, that's when I start talking about self-entitlement.
We can question creative decisions, sure. But ultimately, those decisions are none of our business. If we do not agree with the direction a certain IP is headed, we can always abandon it and move on to something else with which we have a more successful rapport.
Nobody is making anyone buy BioWare's products.

That's a big
subjective. I am a fan of Bioware games but I feel it's necessary to
recognize that DA:2 was a terrible game. HOWEVER I still believe this
thread is pointless.

Sorry about that but I feel it necessary to recognize that the quote in context doesn't really change the overall meaning in this case.

I think the problem people have is the general impression that Mr Laidlaw gives when he certain discusses DA:O features that were loved by the fans and describes them as problematic or difficult to understand... and then praise how these supposedly problems were resolved or negated through new mechanics that the players now dislike.

I said that the thread was pointless; saying things like I won't buy this game anymore because Laidlaw leads it is pointless; the game is not a single man's work, but many.

Comprende?

You know what right your $60 gives you? The right to give feedback in a respectful manner, not the right to demand that the company does everything you want as if you're their master or the ultimate arbiter of what makes a good game/RPG, because you're neither of those things.

Except of course that sustained sales appear to be tanking compared with the original.
