I just can't use any other staff, even if they are better. Staff of Parthalan looks so freaking cool.

Not me as I don't even have it, so NEVER used it.

I used it for a while, looked really good, some of the staffs had good stats but I didn't like the way they looked, so didn't use some of them, liked the look of Orsinos staff the most.

Yeah I always use it for my Mage anti-circle Hawke. It's nice to have an entirely unique, non-creepy (Apostate's Courage - the skull I don't like) weapon to carry. Of course, mods like Sunnie's help to keep it useful!

Only once I got the evolving mod. Otherwise it's ridiculously underpowered by mid-game let alone end-game. In the unmodded game, I ended with the Torch of Falon'Din, which looked cool and had decent staffs.

Does the 'item improves with level up' need special coding or can it be applied to any item? Might be nice as a rune, maybe rune of the parochial or something.

I tend toward the opposite approach, as I will lose an item rather quickly if seeing it bothers me repeatedly, and/or consider it too ugly for usage. The Magister's Scythe stave makes my ankles hurt watching it being carried along outside the pack for example.

It's a staff with a bloody sword on the end. Sure, you can swap it out for boss fights but on trash, the cathartic appeal of running up to something and sticking it in them never loses its charm

You can set any item equipable by hawke to lvl with him by just adding 9115 to the item properties using GFF editor.

Runes are equiped on weapons & armour not hawke so even if you add the property it wont do jack but since for most runes their power is based on the weapons lvl/power anyway they already grow together.

On topic: I normally have anders using it for the whole game while i use Violation staff.

I usually keep it on Bethany full time. By the time its obsolete its already Act 2 and a non-issue.

I'm playing a mage, often traveling with 3 mages + Fenris and I find that I have to carry around a freaking arsenal of staves because of all the various immunities on Nightmare.

So yes, so far (Act 2), Staff of Parlathan is still very useful vs. enemies susceptible to fire.

I prefer cold staffs to fire as I like the slow down effect it sometimes brings plus more enemies are weak to cold than fire.

That said, I like the look of the Staff of Parlathan but I prefer the look of big damage numbers much, much more which the Staff of Parlathan does not bring in act 2 forward. Very nice when you acquire it though.

Agreed!  I use Sunnie's mods and it's nice to wear a good looking set like the champion's armor set all throughout the game and use a cool looking weapon like the the Staff of Parlathan as well.

Marethari's staff is more awesome, the Torch of Falon'din :).

I have already stopped using it (middle of Act 2), sadly, even though it looks cool.

The base damage is too low, so my spell talents do significantly more damage using staves with higher base damage acquired in random loot drops.
