Actually, you will, if you take the same aproach you did on your vanguard. Instead of playing on cover and stick your neck to do 1 power + a few shots, try to be more agressive. Others classes can be as much fun as vanguard is if you chose not to stay on cover and sometimes, even more rewarding.

Yeah, Vanguard is great to get familiar with CQC combat. They are build for that, but the other classes can be played in a similar brutal fashion. I had a lot more fun with all classes once I knew how much fun living (and dying) at the vanguard really is. I highly recommend to give the other classes a go and use the skills you've obtained thanks to Charge.

At higher levels, the Vanguard's shield is pretty strong, so he's survivable. With assault rifle or sniper training, he can take out badguys in non-chargeable positions easily. He has incendiary ammo, which is one of the best ammo powers in general, and works very nicely against scions and Krogan. He can use shockwave for husk control on Veteran or lower difficulty, and cryo ammo for husk control on hardcore or insanity.
I like using the Mattock/Eviscerator combo on my Vanguard. I can snipe, I can bunker down and fight it out with the Mattock, or I can charge in and jam the Eviscerator in their mouth and pull the trigger.

Can somebody do up a strategy thread for the other type of Vanguard... the one that uses other powers in addition of Charge? I wanna try it, but I'm not totally sure how that should be done.
The basic gist of it is to go with shockwave if you want CC, or Pull if you want to do Warp bomb shenanigans.

Krogan Engineering comes to mind.

Soldier + Hardened AR + Eviscerator to the face is indeed very satisfying.

For something that is on par for fun, try a Mechanic AI Hacking Shotgun Engineer. Granted, it's not the best Engineer build for non-mech missions (there are quite a few), but hacking a YMIR/Geth Prime and following them around as they kill for me is easily one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in ME2.

Vanguard is versatile after the collector ship mission. Just take either assault rifle or sniper training. Then you can use a Mattock or Viper SR to kill enemies you can't get to with charge. This does lock you out of the Claymore, but I prefer the Eviscerator and Scimitar over it anyway.

I thought the same thing...until I picked up the Claymore. Now I can't pick anything else on the collector ship. Just grab Reave for range attack if you're unable to Charge (which is rare)

On a serious note, you can pretty much use Carnifex and Locust for those rare cases, where you are unable to charge. And since the Locust is a mini-AR, taking AR training on collector ship is somewhat redundant. And snipers are for ******. And I am also one of those Claymore Vanguards, that can't live without it. I call her "Jamie"

I've given the claymore plenty of tries. It has trouble one shotting the big baddies. The little baddies can be one-shotted with the Eviscerator and when using the Evi, I'm not caught with my dick hanging out if I happen to miss my shot. I can also take the Mattock to have a reliable weapon for killing them when I can't charge. It's also a nice weapon to have when things change rapidly; sometimes, I see an opportunity to charge, but I have to take it RFN if it's going to work and I don't have time to change weapons. The Mattock isn't as awesome of a Charge weapon as the Eviscerator, but it's pretty good; good enough I can use it for charging in a pinch.
If the Claymore had a two shot magazine, I'd probably use it more. As a single shot, forget it. Single shot is fine for the Widow; it is unacceptable for CQC weapon.

I call her "Jamie"aka Jessie's cousin. So obviously I'm a little biased towards it, since it's such a fun and satisfying weapon for me. But I understand if you somehow manage to not like it and pick AR's or SR's instead.
I will always be a rifleman at heart. Other than that, see my above post. The Claymore has never done it for me and likely never will.

I am currently in the beginning stages of a revenant soldier, can't wait till I get to the collector ship... What bonus power do you take?
As long as you spec Inferno, you really don't need a bonus power, but you can benefit from a 1-pt, 3 second power like Slam or Neural Shock.
