I'm terribly sorry if this has been answered before, and I realise I'm late at arriving to the party.

This question has been bugging me for a while.
If I had a Shepard that I got to level 50 on the second play-through and transferred him to ME2; I know I can choose which play-through to choose. My question is, if I choose the first, do I still get the benefits of hitting level 50? I can see it going both ways: yes, because they are same character, and no because level 50 is not the play-through you chose; but I have been unable to find a definitive answer either way.

No the benefits are based on the save file you choose so if you go with the save that did not reach level 50 you do not get the benefits of reaching level 50

You need to choose the level 50 PT to get the corresponding bonuses.
