Hi Everyone

Recently the people of Japan have undergone great hardship having been hit with devastating earthquakes, flooding and are currently dealing with the results of these disasters. BioWare wants to help the people of Japan during this time of need.

BioWare is auctioning off 2 Xbox 360 Game consoles and 2 custom painted PS3s each autograped by BioWare founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk each Xbox 360 will come with copies of Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition and Dragon Age II autographed by the respective game teams. We will also be auctioning off 10 of the new Zip up Mass Effect 2 hoodies again autographed by Ray & Greg. All proceeds will go to the Japanese Red Cross  to help the people who need it most.

The signed Xbox 360s, signed PS3a and all 10 of the signed Mass Effect 2 hoodies are available for your bidding on eBay HERE. The highest bid on each item wins the auction and all the money raised will go to the Red Cross.

We encourage all of our fans to bid on these items or to donate to the Japanese Red Cross for Earthquake Relief Thank you for helping us aid Japan. :)

IMPORTANT UPDATE
These auctions are available to everyone! No matter where you live, no matter which country, we will ship the prize to the highest winning bid. When we set up the auction, we accidentally left the setting as "US shipping only". THIS IS NOT CORRECT. We will ship to any country to whomever wins the auction, for all available prizes.

Good one - shipping to the US only. Again. Seriously do you people learn nothing?

EDIT: to clarify, it's a great cause. However not only do you prevent fans worldwide getting the opportunity to grab this merchandise, you also prevent the price from going as high as possible, and therefore lowering the amount you could donate to Japan.

EDIT2: Items now available worldwide, previous comments retracted.

Charity? RED CROSS???

I'm sorry for what happened, but I don't donate to charity because that money never gets to where it needs to go.

Just out of curiosity which type of 360's are they? The ebay page does not state this.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Honestly, I hate it when people make rubbish excuses at to why they don't donate. Charities do have an impact on lives...

Also I agree with Captain Obvious. (heh, that sounds funny) shipping only to the US, again?

@darknoon5 Exactly how is it a "rubbish excuse"? If the money that was donated actually went to where it was needed (I have places that are prime examples but I don't know if I can list them), some of those aforementioned places might be in some better conditions.

And how do you know the money does not go where it is needed? The money helps the charity in some way, which as a consequence helps the cause that they strive to achieve.

It's hard to believe in the sincerity of this when BW don't even want to deal with the 'hassle' of shipping to Europe or Canada.

Wait. No shipping to Canada? Kind of funny considering the items are located in Canada.

Not to mention Bioware's based in Canada too.

I'm in no shape to be part of these auctions at the moment but the fact anyone outside the US isn't given the option to take part is a serious blow not only to your attempts to raise money for the people of Japan but for anyone else who actually wants to help out (or just get these lovely items, but that's beside the point). This isn't good tactics.

Ok, a few problems with the listings:

What kind of PS3's and 360's are they? We know they are custom painted but not which version of the console they are.

What size are each of the respective hoodies? I looked in and the sizes weren't listed. This is some pretty basic information.

I would love to bid on one of the hoodies and support this cause but I can't tell what the sizes are, can anyone direct me or are the sizes just not listed?

I know PS3's are region free, but the Xbox is NTSC, right? This would kinda discourage european (and other PAL region) fans to bid on the Xbox imo.

Nonetheless, I think it's it's a good cause and I might be participating. And one more question. Is shipping free worldwide or just for North America?

It looks like bioware wanted the 360's/ps3's to be above a certain amount (700 looks to be that amount) - unless the potential buyers are complete idiots. I guess that's possible too.

Really? I mean come on now - who'd DUMB enough to up the bid themselves 4 different times? lol. In any case - I'd much rather just send the money to charity (not that I have 700 bucks to send).

Seriously, guys. Yes, if you donate to the dirty, drunken Santa Clause outside of a supermarket in July, yes the money is wasted. If you donate to a known, good charity, the money DOES get to those in need. Sometimes Red Cross supply lines are raided. So yes, sometimes the "money" (AKA medicine, food, water, and supplies) gets stolen, but good people (real people who went to work in the Red Cross) die in those assaults. So you shouldn't so brazenly dismiss the efforts of a charity whose workers put their very lives on the line to help those in desperate need. What have *you* done that's up to that standard?

But who in their right mind would think that Japanese people are gonna raid Red Cross supply lines? Japan has some of the lowest crime rates in the world.

You should ask a veteran about the Red Cross' "charity".

The Autobid function is a funny animal. When a higher bid is entered, it doesn't go to the previous bidder's max bid immediately, but increases by increments until either the new amount is surpassed or the max bid is reached.

It looks dodgy, agreed, and I actually e-mailed e-bay on a similar looking bid history on an unrelated item a while back, but apparently it's just the quizzical nature of the code, not a case of shady practices.

That's a generous thought, although I've already send something to my colleague there.
It's just easier that way. If you want to help: Help.

If you spend money on a charity auction, a good chunk of that money will be lost.
But again, it's a generous thought.

I'm glad that BioWare is doing something like this. It stands as a lighthouse in a sea of the general nonchalance of many in the gaming community, especially those n00bs @ Kotaku.
