Do the game take any extraordinary twists and turns after lvl16? I can only see 100's of point and clicks battles ahead of me.
So i need help get motivation back, , restart with a mage? This got nothing to do with difficulty, had i ran on hard i would had tired faster, reloading after death always feel like cheating and is..
Thanks for not ranting about this post, i really wan't to love this game, i truly do.. (in some respect i do!)

If you are, these things shouldn't bother you.
The random encounters can be troublesome, but they're not a drain on the game in my view.

First run through nightmare, took 3 mages. (this was the game just came out and no one knew anything about mages). By the time I was level 8 I sword I would never use force field anymore. By the time I was 12, no more shimmering shield anymore. But by the time I finished ashes I just folded and started over.
Second run had no mages, it was like 3 rogues one warrior. Was pretty fun. Made it all the way to the landsmeet and then started over wiht my solo nightmare rogue. The first 0time I completed the game would be with him.

If you haven't read any spoilers, the endgame part of DA:O can be... (there's no way to say it without spoiling it)... let's just say it's worth finishing.

This game has so many flaws and missing so many neccesities that it really is not an RPG to me...
It ranks in the area where Pacman and Bomberman lies just cause its and run, think, slay, run, think, slay, watch cinematic, run, think, slay, run think slay run think slay runthinkslay runthinkslayrunthinkslay ..........
It's a lame game.

This issue is not about the game i think, its more about me, so no offenses to DA.. i am an serious fan of Bioware..
..but.. i think i finished off soldiers peak in 5 minutes? That was probably the most dissapointing thing so far..
Thanks for the end-game hint though, i will finish this eventually, i havent read any spoilers exept the bridge quest yet.. don't want to spoil it all
Cheers

Good like finding a video game that isn't. I'll be here when you're done failing at trolling.

Playing at Easy and skipping every dialogue? I find it hard to finish it in 5 minutes that way too oO
Try not to rush things in DA:O, and enjoy every single bit.. I've finished it in 76 hours.. and I've started over again!
It's just extraordinary for me..
Try harder difficulties, try exploring every bit of dialogue and the background story of each of your party members! So far I was just able to do the quests of 3 of them.. plus I've missed out a few quests when I've finished it the first times.. and the game has multiple ends.. depending on your decisions..
Edit: I've just noticed that I've posted through my brother's account -.- LuPoM here anyways...

You see, this EXACT same thing happened to me while playing the OC's of both NWN 1 and NWN 2 (but particularly NWN 1's OC)
The game was going fine, but after a while, the constant repitition of the combat started to get to me. The streets started to look too small, the areas too empty and lifeless, too much loot in my inventory that I had no real use for etc.
In other words, there reached a point where the immersion was gone and I just saw myself running around clicking my mouse button. I felt like I was just some guy sitting down clicking away at his mouse, instead of being carried away to another world.
You see there are different types of gamers. Many people wouldn't be bothered about things like suspension of disbelief and immersion. But for some of us gamers the experience has to be more than "just another game, " and if the constant and repetitive nature of the combat contributes to making you lose motivation, then it's not entirely the gamer's fault.

For me the major challenge is not getting burnt out spamming ESC all the time to get through the mind numbingly bad cut scenes.

I like RPGs when you can actually RP.
In DA:O everything is 95% preset adn nothing you do will really cahnge much.
Insult and berate NPCs? They keep coming back for more and offer to join with you.
Insult the king to his face? Same result as if you grovelled.
This isn't RP by a long shot - It's a scripted "along for the ride" game...

By this you mean fall in line and "play" the game as the development team scripted it?
If so, why include all those non-imapcting dialogue options? Why include 90% of the crap they did when it doesn;t make a real difference anyways?
To show case their "creative writing abilities"???

I.e. as several classes or combination of party characters but there is only one "rail" to follow.
I wouldn't classify this as an RPG because of that.

A few chantry or thief side quests were almost that way, but most of the game is the four or five very long main plot quests. Which means long stretches of fairly limited 'role playing' (ie, with other characters), unless you're the type of player who goes to camp in the middle of quests.

We must have played a different game. I lost two companions, both of whom I would've preferred keeping. One to a choice I made and the other because they liked me, but not enough not to betray me. A third potential companion was killed by an existing companion. I alienated (and lost the support of) royalty, and I'm 99% sure I missed out on several NPC non-companion allies.
I know two other companions are alienable for a certain choice as well.
That's over 50% of the party being for-certain "make the wrong choices and they're gone". Far more than in most NPC heavy games I've played. I don't know what you're comparing it to (unless PnP roleplaying, which is a different breed.)
