Greetings, hope this is in the right forum, basically ran into a rather nasty bug.
After doing "night terrors" quest with Merril her attack stat value dropped to minimum as has her dps, meaning she can't hit or damage anything (despite having 42 magic, the magic resistance still shows though, its the attack+damage) value that is bugging. Can now only rely on her for spellcasting.
Verric got this problem soon afterwards at the start of act 3, same thing for him, he cant shoot or damage anything (5% hit rate vs all enemies).
As isabella ran away with the relic, never recruited Fenris and despise Anders this means that for my 4 man team of shield+sword hawke, aveline, merril and verric half of them can't physically attack the enemy besides using abilities.
Anyone know of a fix? Cheers.

Is it reproducible if you load a save before the issue and do the same things?

Alas I don't have the appropriate saves (only realized the problem later at the level up screen for both characters).
Loading some saves like beginning of act III allows me to confirm verric was ok at that point, the bug in his case triggered doing the "on the loose" quest.

Edit your save file and make sure there's no negative mods on her attack values

Used gff4 to check stats, no negative values.
Further symptoms:
Armor value doesn't count either, merrils armor is as if she was wearing none (although the armor value that should be there is shown in gff4 editor).
Magic resistance for Merril still shows though.
Item/gear attack bonuses still apply though, and through rings increased Verrics attack to 20% against normal enemies.
Edit: Varrics back down to 5%. Aint changed a thing.
Edit 2: Nvm stacking more items that give attack bonuses help boost attack value over 5%.
So item bonuses work.
