This may seem like whining, and I'm pretty sure it classes as such. But Am I The Only One That Hates Her Voice? Her voice seems out of place, when I think of a female warrior/mage/rouge that ISN'T the voice I imagine. That voice sounds like some "snob" that should be up in a castle somewhere asking Charles if he wants more sugar in his tea.
I'm a girl and for once I thought Id finally play as a female through DA2 only to find that I couldn't stand this womans voice. It harrassed my ear drums, maybe it's because I'm british and that accent was just so "fake" it anoyyed me. I got up to ACT II with female hawke before crying out in dismay, "SHUT UP ALREADY" and went off to play as a michevous male Hawke, which I am loving.

So tell me, am I the only one who hates her voice, or are there others out there?

(P.S) Good job on Male Hawke though, Bravo Bioware. Now do the same for my warden. ;]

Wow, yeah, I totally disagree. FemHawke's voice is sexy as hell. But I liked both the lead's voices.

I Figured there would be a large proportion of people that like the voice, but personally I can't stand it. But I'll have to deal with it sooner or later, gotta romance Anders the proper way >>

I loved her voice myself. Distinctively different from Male in personality even when on the same personality path.

And she does make multiple 'tea' comments  I never got from the Male version.Image IPB

I hate the voice OP. Everytime she speaks I sigh that combined with the walk and I'm stuck rolling Male Hawkes.

Ah well. I love Boulton's acting so it's not all bad.

Edit: As for romancing Anders the proper way I have to say I watched some vids of the FemHawke romance and prefer the male Hawe version. He also doesn't tell you about Karl if you romance him with a female.

Must be the angry Brit in me that refuses to like her voice.

Royals are getting married! How can Brits be angry?

Her voice makes me want to punch her through the screen.

"Smooth and sultry" does not work in this game. Especially when it usually comes across as "bored" and "monotonous."

Then again it could be that her voice just seems especially bad when compared to the perfect tone and spot-on delivery that is Male Hawke.

Were always angry.
+ The way that woman talks about tea makes my skin crawl. She doesn't know the proper art of tea making. Why couldn't they have used the wise female human voice actor from Origins, that was the best bloody voice. I can't stand this much suave.

I don't like her voice either. It sounds too... girlish? Snobbish? It makes me cringe. :(
Love Boulton's voice acting though.

I like them both. I would not mind sounding like Fem Hawke. Actually like all the voice actors.

I'm British and I personally think her voice sounds great. Although I do much prefer male Hawke's voice.

I disliked both Hawke VOs, as both sounded too posh for a refugee from lothering.
But I put up with it because of the good one liners sarcastic Hawke produces.
I'll hope that the next game's main character VO is chosen by lore, not distinctness.

Female's VO is better than males. That's not saying much, though.

They did sound posh didn't they? Not even the couslands could match up to that extreme "I'm better than you" accent.

First point is true, in my opinion, but the FemHawke voice isn't really that bad.

P.S. I personally found the FemHawke voice to go perfectly with the kind of rogue I play.

I don't get the "snob" critiques anyway.
I hate to break it to you, but Hawke is a snob. The fact that she/he is raised in Lothering is irrelevant. Leandra is a snob, and hence raised a snob. Bethany sounds pretty snobby too. So does Carver in that earthy-snob way.

I swear Mass Effect and Dragon Age 2 are the only mediums where people are criticised for acting in character.

I never played as a rouge with Female Hawke, I was a warrior. And to me her voice wasnt suited to that of a warrior. For someone who was a solider back in Lothering and was brought up learning sword play, you would think she would be a bit more rough around the ages, a little more serious, cautious and wise. Not what we got...

Not disliking the timbre itself, but something about the delivery bugs me. Maybe it's becuse most of the lines makes Hawke an utter douchebag and while male Hawke somehow manages to mitigate that, female Hawke makes it sound exactly as obnoxious as it is.

I suppose it just means i dislike the character.

Same here. LOVE it!

And the character design for the default FemHawke is perhaps the most stunning design for any character I've encountered in an RPG.

The angry options sound perfectly rough around the edges.
Not deep and gruff, but then why do we need two Avelines?
