Thats the problem with a voiced PC.
With your companions BW can choose a voice that matches the character, but for the PC you choose the character so even the best voice acting will fail if it just doesn't fit to your PC.

Only problem I have with both main voices of Hawke is the sudden change in tone when they start flirting, not as pronounced in male hawke but the change persuaded me to keep Hawke single for all playthroughs.

Matter of individual opinion
I loved her voice and thought I suited her brilliantly.

I had a problem with both Female Voices for the Bioware games (I like Jennifer Hale, but FemShep just seems...angry. All the time).

That said, I was able to get used to FemHawke's voice, but I think Boulton REALLY nailed it, especially the Charm middle choices.

I thought her accent and delivery were perfect for my rogue. I can see that it mightn't work so well for other classes or other players' "visions" of who the character is.

I wonder if it would really be that expensive to record multiple full voice sets, so we didn't have to make do with one-size-fits-all?

I love playing charming, snobby characters. Her voice was perfect for what I wanted!

I prefer manhawke's voice, especially the sarcastic one, ladyhawke just sounds too... sassy. But still i like hers as well.

I loved my F!Hawkes voice, haven't tried M!Hawke yet but I guess I should give it a try soon. I pretty always play female characters so I haven't tried M!Shep yet either. Think I prefer M!Hawke to M!Shep but it might simply be because I've heard M!Hawke a bit when my husband playes DA2.

Did anyone actually play as a warrior with Female Hawke?

I did.  Sword and Board female tank with mostly funny dialogue options.

In honesty her voice was one of the plus points of the game for me.

I found the female voice jarring when switching tone, it sounded like Hawke had a triple personality disorder. But then I didn't think the dialogue for Hawke was particularly great. Must be difficult for a VA to put emotion into their acting when the lines aren't great to begin with. NPC dialogue was pretty good though, no complaints there.

I personally loved the VO's of all the charactes (except merrill), the one thing that did bother me was the way my female hawke ran, I mean it just looked to girly for a warrior, it was ok for the mage I guess but for a rogue or warrior it was just to dainty.

Yes I did, enjoyed the voice but hated the way she ran/walked.

I actually think the female voice is a little bit better than the male.

I love her voice. I played a Diplomatic mage the first time and thought her voice fit my character perfectly. I'm on a Sarcastic warrior right now and it works just as well, but I prefer her Diplomatic tone.

I don't mind her voice. I was a bit surprised by it, but then you have to realize that there are people in real life who have voices you would never expect. There are people, nevermind women, who have voices that don't suit where they grew up, how they grew up, and/or the job they perform that some of them happen to love.

My issue with the voices are how you can go from high to low so fast. That's one of the positives of a voiceless PC. You can imply whether the statement you're making is sarcastic, sardonic, gruff, even, etc. Probably one of the best periods of roleplaying in an rpg with a voiceless PC is giving a reply and knowing what that reply sounds like in your head and the npc your talking to responding like they completely missed how you were saying what you were saying.

I love her voice, but I know what you mean.  Her tone/timber is deeper when she's trying to be direct or agressive so pairing it with another personality choice don't blend very well.  I don't think it's the VA's acting ability it's just her vocal range limitation.  I have the same problem myself. :crying:

This may seem like whining, and I'm pretty sure it classes as such. But Am I The Only One That Hates Her Voice? Her voice seems out of place, when I think of a female warrior/mage/rouge that ISN'T the voice I imagine. That voice sounds like some "snob" that should be up in a castle somewhere asking Charles if he wants more sugar in his tea.
I'm a girl and for once I thought Id finally play as a female through DA2 only to find that I couldn't stand this womans voice. It harrassed my ear drums, maybe it's because I'm british and that accent was just so "fake" it anoyyed me. I got up to ACT II with female hawke before crying out in dismay, "SHUT UP ALREADY" and went off to play as a michevous male Hawke, which I am loving.

So tell me, am I the only one who hates her voice, or are there others out there?

(P.S) Good job on Male Hawke though, Bravo Bioware. Now do the same for my warden. ;]

I am male, I dislike Garrett Hawke's voice (he sounds like a butler not a warrior) but I love Marian Hawke's voice

Since you are a female, it is all natural that you like the Male voice and not the Female voice. Tis a gender thing... must be :devil:

I just finished my diplomatic mage not 20 min ago    =)   it suited her perfectly. The previous Hawke bounced around alot between diplomatic, snarky and direct. This time around I made sure to keep the same tone, I used all different choices but I liked having a certain tone to her. Next up is snarky rogue    =)     snarky is wonderfull.

I actually have a rogue male play through in limbo because I can't actually stand the male voice myself... but its just my opinion. I found the male to be... lacking over all, it always rubs me the wrong way for some reason where as I prefered the female and have played her both diplomatic and joking. I did notice that with BOTH voices, if you suddenly went from one type to another it seemed a bit off but thats not really the VA's fault, its not always easy to make several likes for multiple options actually sound like they were part of the same conversation.
