It does have it consequences if you don't. First off it costs you and your party one FREE level of experience.. Her quest chain is the only place that I know of, that you get the Ambrosia(Potion of 1 Free level).
Off topic. I play on Nightmare level and it's sad that the best 2hander for a Warrior has to be purchased from a vendor wtf? Celebant and Bloom are Spirit and Cold damage respectively. A few mobs are immune to their damage. So the best bang for the buck IMO is the Limbtaker. It is physical damage and you can put the rune in it that Sandal gives you( Shard Fragment) +37% attack speed. This theoretically gives your a flat damage value of 78 vs the 62 of the other two.  :)

You don't need to romance Isabela to do her Act 3 companion quest. You only need her to come back at the end of Act 2, and that just requires 50% friendship or rivalry and completion of her Questioning Beliefs quest before she leaves.

Celebrant and Bloom are better than Limbtaker for Hawke. Cold and Spirit damage have extra useful effects, and are boosted by the plethora of +% cold or spirit damage gears out there, and aren't affected by armor.

Read a lil bit closer.. I SAID on Nightmare level, the other two, a few mobs are immune to their effect. And as for  Isabela. 1) If she doesn't show up for the Arishok or you turn her over to them you DO NOT get it.

I never contested that you can't get the ambrosia if Isabela doesn't return. You said in your topic that you have to romance Isabela, and that's just not true, which is what I said in my first post.

I think it is silly to choose a weapon that isn't as useful for all fights than it is to keep two weapons that you can swap between for the rare times when you run into enemies immune to their damage types, especially since there aren't any enemies immune to both spirit *and* cold. Why would I want a weapon that I can use to deal 100 DPS all the time when I can have two weapons that I can instantly switch between that let me deal 125-150 DPS all the time? That does not sound like a "best" weapon to me.

Moral of the story is you could carry multiple 2 handers for the cases when a mob is immune to a type of damage. It's not overly crucial. The opinion on which 2 handers is the best is also perspective. That Primeval rune is pretty sweet though.

That's what I was responding to. You don't need to romance her for her to come back with the book when you face the Arishok. So you don't need to romance her to get the Act III quest.

Celebrant is a Hunk of junk..It's nothing but a threat meter for a warrior (Stats blow on it).. Granted Bloom is good, but it's drawback is the cold damage. Whereas the Limbtaker is for its namesake. C&B are 62 damage. LT is 57. Not that big of a difference. Plus it also has the stat 25% Deathblow on it..Couple that with the Sandal Rune and it's no contest. I've actually tried them all on Nightmare..Have you?

I take it you don't know how to write.

The title of your thread is 'not romancing Isabela.' You then say a consequence is losing her at the end of Act 2, which costs you a level.

But you don't need to romance Isabela to keep her at the end of Act 2.

Don't insult people because you're sloppy with your language.

That implies to us reading it that you have to romance her. I don't remember getting any xp for romancing a character. Why they were saying you don't have to romance her. There is no benefit to romancing a character besides them getting a new outfit and some banter with other companions.

Celebrant dishes out Spirit Damage. Spirit Damage's side benefit is making the mobs weaker to all schools of magic when they are hit by Spirit Damage. So actually Celebrant is considered one of the best if not the best cause it also increases the incoming damage of your mages and or any abilities that are non physical.

Romancing is not a part of her staying though. YOu could have slept with her and she still would have left. Romancing her is not the lock for her staying...

Again try it on Nightmare with that weapon and you'd be suprised at how many Immunes...immunes...immunes you see. May work for the lower levels of gameplay but For me, it's a joke playing on anything but Nightmare.

Look Mr. A.D.D., no one is saying to 1 weapon the entire time. It would be like a rogue wanting to use bows. The Jackal Longbow is great cause it does fire damage. But it's useless on some mobs. So should they vendor it for the ones that it's not useless on? No...

edited to add.

P.S. The best 2 Hander is only available by summoning it via the game console commands for PC Players. Vigilance. It's version in the game files ignores all armor. Making it the best for every mob. Pretty much. But it's not obtainable in anyway at the moment. Maybe meant for a DLC later.

LOL  u made me chuckle..Celebrant is practically worthless imo on Nightmare, DUE to the fact, that the Mages main job is keeping the party up. Not alot of time for Bam..bam.. bam on their part, so makes the aforementioned weapon a mute point.
P.S. Having LT equpped forgoes all the weapon swapping period..Even on Mightmare.

You can have 2 mages in your party. Up to 3 if you are a mage yourself. Merrill dps, Anders healing. I'm not actually sure you have much grasp of what is going on besides your own damage and not their's it seems. Kind of like your lack of grasping how the approval system works in regards to Isabela and her crisis point in Act 2.

Those people who churn out 200k damage in one hit in the builds forum seem to always use Celebrant and Bloom. (on their 2handers)

They must not know what they are talking about huh. I know many love the fire bow for Archer. I just prefer the look of Absolution though. I don't worry about min/maxing if I'm playing alone.

Edited to add a clarification for our confused original poster.

The reason Celebrant & Bloom are the favored weapons and DO more damage than a physical weapon all around is that they ignore armor. Every physical weapon's damage is reduced by the mobs armor. They have a LOT of armor in Nightmare. So it's not like you're getting a benefit against them by using a normal sword. Infact Armor is basically the most common defense...

Have you ever done this on Nightmare? Just asking.. If there is 1 tank and a 2 handed warrior already in the party, Doesn't leave much room for 2 mages..lol... A 2 handed warrior is well more than worth having 2 mages in a party imo on nightmare.. He is the trash collector and the street sweeper all rolled up into 1.

I just wanted to point out that these are the enemies immune to spirit damage on Nightmare:
- Arcane Horrors
- Shades
- Desire Demons

And these are the enemies immune to cold damage:
- Kirkwall Type
- Mercenary Type
- Tevinter Type (inc. Slavers)
- Revenants

So... use Bloom until you run into one of the four types above. Switch to Celebrant. Wear gear that increases cold damage when using Bloom. Wear gear that increases spirit damage when using Celebrant. Do more overall damage than Limbtaker, because deals less overall damage and is still affected by armor.
