Right so I'm on insantiy as a vangaurd, last boss with Tali and Garuss as team mates. I've spend the past hour playing and died 4 times, got the health half way at most, the problem is that the Collectors keep spawning. This means I was what ammo and time I have shooting them and not the boss, worst still is every out of every 2 collectors 1 becomes Harbinger and its just complete BS. Help please.

Do you have cain ?Use it against the last boss. Also use pistol/sniper rifle (aim in the vulnerable spot on it's chest or eyes) against the boss and use armor damaging powers like warp or reave. The easiest fight is when you have 2 biotic squaddies (with anti armor powers). Do everything as fast as you can and you may avoid spawning collectors.

I have found that this fight is easy enough to let your Squadmantes focus on the Collectors and you solely on wittling down the boss' health.
Clever position is the key, because the special attack the thing has does indeed "friendly fire" on its own troops and takes them out rather nicely (OSKs mostly except Harby). Said clever positioning usually means just stay at the center behind cover and shoot things. Beware the Charge bug that occurs on those platforms, that can kill you. A helpful note is that every fallen Harby dopes a package HW-Ammo, which can be useful in vast ways, depending on your HW.

Generally, if you have a Save beforehand the fight, you might want to change Sqadmates to your better liking, because Tali's one single useful talent is the Combat Drone and otherwise she is a bit too squishy against Collectors. Garrus also is a suboptimal choice, because he scores high at the Defense-Rating and Thane with his high damage boost, weapon loadout and Biotics is a far better companion for that fight. I suggest taking Thane and Mordin with you, the latters Incinerate proved incredibly powerful on multiple occasions and is quite effective against the boss too.

Kasumi with Improved Flashbang can help.
Recently I've paired her with Mordin for an effective duo against the Collectors.

Do you have the Locust?

That's a pretty easy fight. Most Collectors (including Harby) will be wiped out by Arnie's fireballs anyway. Ammo clips spawn everytime Arnie shows himself again (far right and left platform), Harby will drop heavy weapon ammo when you (not Arnie) kill him.

Shoot the weakspots, anything that's good versus armor will do (sniper rifle, AR, HP and even shotguns like the Claymore and Eviscerator will take it down quickly). Wipe out the Collector's first which (especially when playing Vanguard) shouldn't be too difficult - plenty of time left to shoot Arnie before the next wave comes in.

I've always used the same tactic in this battle. I'm not sure if it's the best strategy, but it works. I go over to the far right and just camp up on that platform, largely ignoring the Collectors that spawn on the far left until Harbinger is up in my grill. You don't get the best shot at its central weak spot, but its head is readily available.

When the Reaper Larva's health gets low, it may slap the platforms around a bit. By then usually another Warp or two will finish it off anyway.

Tali and Garrus were poor choices for this fight. Garrus has a sniper rifle, which helps. But both of them shine in other situations.

What is your weapon load out? Also, what are your powers?

Tali and Garrus aren't really that great for the final boss fight, since they don't have any powers to use against armor. I would suggest using Tali's drone to distract Harbinger and use Garrus' concussive shot to knock unprotected enemies from the platforms. Charge will also toss unprotected enemies off platforms.

You're likely going to need to rely on your pistol and SMG to whittle down the Reaver's health. Remember that the Predator and Carnifex get bonuses against armor (not sure about the Phalanx), so that's your go-to weapon for picking up ammo. Just remember to check the left and right platforms for ammo spawns.

Just finished my vanguard on insanity. Took Miranda and Thane. I left them in the center to deal with collectors.

I went up to the far right platform and used the M-5 Phalanx with inferno ammo on the Terminator.

Only had to charge on a collector once to pick up the heavy weapon ammo drop (which tops off all your ammo).

Both Miri and Than were set to use the tempest and I only helped kill off Harby once.

I tried using both their warps against the terminator, but they didn't do much damage at all, so instead I'd pause once in a while and use their warps on the closest collectors to them. Also used Thane's throw a few times for the lulz. No use wasting time or ammo on collectors that can be flung off the platforms and out of the fight.

Miri's damage bonus is nice, but not necessary. I pretty much take her for reactions to TIM at the end. If you like throwing things, you could take both Thane and Samara. Have done that a few times on my adept runs. Lots of fun to strip collector protections with a warp or two then toss them aside as if they were no longer important or worth my attention :)

Also remember that Heavy weapon ammo refills your ammo on all weapons, like a massive thermo clip, so if you are running low on ammo, look for the dropped HW crates.

(1) Take better squadmates. Samara is a solid choice with Assault Rifle + Reave. Miranda is always a good choice. Thane is awesome with Warp and Sniper Rifle. Legion's Widow can do serious work to the Reaper.

(2) Try to line up the Reaper's Red Beam of Death so that it takes out most of the Collectors (It can one-shot Harby). The Beam is quite wide and will always be aimed directly towards you, it also has a long build up. Shouldn't be too hard.

(3) Take some Ammo efficient weapons. I recommend the Predator. It does surprisingly good damage to the Reaper with Inferno/Tungsten Ammo and you don't need to worry much about Thermo clips.

I took him out without using Heavy Weapons (I modded out all Heavy Weapons). I had more problems with him knocking down most of the platform than me running out of ammo- there are infinite respawn thermo clips lying around in addition to Harby's drops IIRC.

Not it's not Harbinger usually drops HW ammo regardless of how he dies. However Arnold's attack will destroy any HW boxes in its path.
