About 10% of the time and in nearly every conversation Hawke speaks without me selecting a dialogue option, this is really irritating, I mean how little control do we get over our characters before you are satisfied?

It usually happens like this: I would select a dialogue and the NPC would answer, but then Hawke suddenly will start talking again without me having chosen a dialogue option. If you look closely in any of your next 3 interactions with NPCs, you will notice it, trust me.

I just started up my year seven save again to find an example and found it on the first try.

When you get to the gallows, (the main story) this is what happens: a random mage walks up to you:

Mage: Campion, thank the maker you've arrived.

Hawke: Whats happend?

The first enchanter got into a huge arguement with the knight commander and... (cant remember)

Hakwe: Then take me to them before anything gets out of hand.

I didnt get to choose ONE dialogue option. Hawke just spoke on his own. Its really irritating that this happens 10% of the time through the entire game.

Feel free to share moments were this has anoyed you.

I don't know what game you're playing, but I did not find that Hawke spoke on his own in anything more than affirmation dialogue.  Weird.

I think they are just complaining that Hawke much like companions may interject into a conversation without a que from the player. Personally I never saw it as a big deal.

You'd rather a mute PC? Or the bother of selecting between the options of "Yes", "Yes, I understand." or "Yes, you moron."?

Yeah Hawke is a bit insane at times. LOL.

That doesn't happen on mine. Maybe it's a bug?

I was hoping you were hoping he was talking about that dialog that supposedly occurs when Hawke leaves the Chantry alone after some event and starts muttering to himself. (or her)

They probably want it like Origins where at most you may blink or nod. There was this sort of signaling with a slight head twist to the left to go along with telling Leliana that you didn't want to get out of bed yet while she was still there. Past that the Hero about never moved. Compared to Hawke who is more like Shepard and is a part of the story.

I see what you meant now after the edit.  What I have to say is this:  Your dialogue choice colors how Hawke is supposed to act to the conversation.  If you choose an option, that same emotional scheme will apply to several non-prompted responses in the future.  I do not find this as a problem (I pick my options carefully), but I can see how that can be frustrating.

Oh yes it does, reboot your year seven auto save and go straight to the gallows and you'll see.

Wait... are you using my computer without my knowledge? Well I'm going to sue you now. LOL. I thought you were talking about throughout the whole game, not just this one section. I don't know what you are talking about. Why would I go directly to the gallows without taking care of other things first?

Edit: Ugh you keep changing your first post. LOL

It doesn't happen to me in my game. Sorry.

Thats not the point -_-

Just reboot year seven and go to the gallows just to initiate the conversation between Hawke and the mage there. And you ll see that Hawke speaks by himself.

When Hawke speaks on his own, he's representing his dominant personality. If you've chosen mostly snarky responses, Hawke will respond in a snarky way without your input. So, while the dialogue wheel may not present the option to select the dialogue, you're still choosing it, in a way. Bioware uses this mechanic to show how different personalities differentiate the characters you play as.

The most annoying is the final speech, particularly if you've taken a variety of choices but ended up with snarky as your dominant tone.

If you did it's your own fault.

Personally I like Snarky. Though the whole final speech lacks the weight they could have had with it. I felt more weight during the Shepard final speeches. In the end I think the character's attitude, banters and so on changing based on your previously selections is a great change. So now it'll just be waiting to see how that evolves over time if they keep using that kind of mechanic.

Snarky is good in it's place, but where that place is depends on the character.  The game has no way of working out what in what situations my Hawke is snarky and in which they are serious, so the game shouldn't shut the player out in the climactic moments of the game and have them act in a way which could well be out of character.

I'd long since stopped thinking about what dominant personality I ended up with and I loved the final speech. Fit my character perfectly. Each to their own I guess?

They're prolly just mad since they didn't get options for the speeches like Mass Effect 2 had. They had 2 speeches total in the final battles for ME2 and even inside said speeches you picked what was said mid the speeches as well. Maybe they want to have that again? Personally I didn't stress over it. All the sarcastic stuff going on long before the end fight made me love Hawke.

I wish we had a chance to pick what we wanted to say for the final speech like we do in the ME serie, but otherwise I didn't mind Hawke interjecting much. I thought the personality mechanic helped a bit, and the interjections almost always fit my character perfectly.

Really, my only complaint about it is that I wish sometimes the voice for the interrogation line, or the random things your character says when interacting with objects (like in your house) would change according to the personality--at least more often than they seem to. Those lines do sometimes feel a little out of place.

Do three side quests and take the tough girl option : "release the hostages or die etc"
Next go to Merrill's place and before you even have a chance to select anything your Hawke will call her a ****, as your dominant personality is now apparently a jerk.

I found it extremely annoying as this happens a lot if you switch between friendly and tough speech.

I, too, would have preferred some control over the final speech. I didn't at all mind the little interjections that (I think) the OP is speaking of, but the lack of player agency in the final speech rubbed me the wrong way. It was a huge chunk of dialogue we had no control over, and, as a result, it tore me out of the action in a place where I should have been at my most involved.
