Maybe it's just me, maybe it's the redesign of the elves, but I'm seriously not diggin' Merril. At All. It's got to be the combination of her new elf design, Welsh accent, and horrid naievety... Anyone else care to share why they like her or why not?

I'm not a big fan of her; the only companion I use less is prob Sebastian. She's just a bit too cutesy for my tastes, and as I tend to play mages a lot myself, I find there are other, more compelling companion options for me.

Ya, the cutesy thing had me flinching. I didn't even want her as a mage companion because she can't even heal or resurrect. (I played as a warrior through DA2)

She... Greatly annoys me, but hate is a bit too strong IMO.

I like her! She's very endearing. The accent I can't place. It suits her though, as well as her design. She's got this quirky kind of charm.

Is it okay that I hate Anders such a seething hatred that I can now only barely stand him in replaying Awakening cause he sounds like Cullen. Otherwise I want to stab him repeatedly in the back. I just hate how he was written in DA2 and which I wouldn't even have to waste time recruiting him. Since I'll kill him at the end anyway.

Meanwhile Merrill was kind of cold in Origins and is very different in DA2. I don't hate her. I just find her amusing and one of the only rare few non broody people like Isabela and Varric. I so hate broody. Especially mean acting like women.

Merrill brings a refreshing lack of broodiness and semi-whiny mage anarchism to the table.

As for what makes me choose her over Isabela...I don't have a clue, honestly.

True, the first is hating to love something and the second is loving to hate something.

I feel the exact same way. The only good thing about Anders in DA:II is that ...................I can't think of any thing.

She seems a bit too...young. And sometimes her naive nature can go too far to be funny. I don't really hate her, just not my favourite character compared to some others though.
