Then... where did she get the rest of the glass? From the Eluvian store?

Word of God is that Merrill only took with her a single shard, which she then cleansed. She then attempted to piece together the mirror she has from scratch, rebuilding the missing parts based on information gleaned from whatever scraps of lore the Dalish have.

That's why her eluvian is so much smaller and looks so different from the other two in Origins, and why the one in the ruins is still there in WH for the Warden to take a piece of.

I should hope your thankful for it - this took a few many minutes hours of politely asking intensive enhanced interrogation of David Gaider to get that information. :bandit:

Yeah... that still doesn't really tell me where she found all the magical non-reflective glass... unless.. maybe... she painted over regular glass?

It's only non-reflective because the graphics engine doesn't do reflections

Give the girl a break, glass making is not her stock and trade. :innocent: :P

Besides, it's worth it to hear her say "you worthless hunk of glass" in that Welsh accent.

(A/N: I've literally NEVER used that heart smilie before.)

well who's to say that the magical glass shard she had didn't make all the non-magical glass now magical? Or maybe she used some ancient elven spells on it from the scraps of lore she had to make them magical?

I also do not like her ... the elves in this game are alienishly ugly (J.C.'s Avatarlol) and it's probably just me, but I really dislike the Welsh accent ... just makes me think of Gavin and Stacey haha :P If she wasnt ugly and welsh, she has quite an amusing querky personality which I quite like :)

PS Bioware, please make the elves look like they did in Origins. Simple ear sharpening and a lithening of the form was cheaper and more attarctive ! :D

The Warden "steals" a piece of the mirror too. So... how does Merrill manage to fix it all? Mind? Blown.

That's what I was wondering about... Cos there should still be some pieces of the Eluvian left in the ruin if Warden & Finn went looking for it. I just can't remember how much shards were left in WH, it seems a lot. So I guess Merrill took most of the shards before the clan left, carry them around in a pack, assembled it in Sundermount with some frame and then brought it to Kirkwall... <_<

She only took one shard, and built the rest up on her own.

Then... where did she get the rest of the glass? From the Eluvian store?

It's just scrap.  She probably stole it from somewhere in the rusty metal spike part of town.  One of her adventures in getting nabbed by the Kirkwall guard.

I hate her more then everything else I have ever encountered in a game.
Really, no joke.

Everytime I hear/see her I am like that(or worse)>

Her way of talking, her damn naive and destructive behaviour....just about everything.

Is there any way to slay her?
Haven't found out yet.

I like the new elven design, and love her Welsh accent. She's also quite handy in a fight.

That being said, she doesn't fit into the story very well. She has no angle to play except her weird fascination with the eluvian. I could never romance her because I'd just be helping her in her self-destruction. Really, she doesn't seem like someone Hawke would associate with after the end of Act I.

Nothing she did was self-destructive....

Not that you're calling her it, but why do people see her as stupid when Merrill isn't stupid? A little naive yes, but naivety and stupidity are two vastly different things.

Spending days indoors, neglecting to eat, and not interacting with other people are all self-destructive.

Her Act 3 quest is her undertaking a task she believes (with good reason) will lead to her death. Did you notice how after you accept the quest, she's saying goodbye to the other companions?

That really damn self-destructive.

That it doesn't reflect anything is one of the reasons she knows the mirror isn't fixed yet. She's using regular, reflective glass, but when Merrill adds it to the eluvian, it stops working.

I don't hate her per se, but I think she's a little annoying. Especially in the beginning of her rivalry path.

It doesn't help that she reminds me of Tali, but eh, different game/universe.

Merrill never neglected to eat and she's always interacted with people. The indoors part though she did do, when Varric comes to see her. But I kinda do that too, though I go outside every now and then. Merrill does too. She steals flowers Image IPB

I don't remember her ever saying goodbye to anyone.

Anders did. Merrill I never had that happen. Unless you mean in banter with Aveline where she asks Aveline to take care of Hawke. If so, I had that happen before she even asked me to.

As for the whole demon thing, I won't comment on it. Mainly due to a lack of a good response to it. I'll remain neutral on that point.

Merrill was foolish to work with a demon simple as that. They are inherently evil beings not worth a second of our time. I saw past her hollow justifications to Anders, the Dales damn well know how dangerous demons can be. She is just obsessed with that stupid cursed mirror. She should have focused on helping her people in the present.

I think the nail in the coffin for me was when she was talking to a Dalish merchant and she acts really sarcastic about how much the Alienage sucks even though everyone there cares about her a great deal and would rather have her with them then at that terrible place. She just came across as a whiny teenager.

I felt like screaming at her during the game to do something productive beyond CUTTING YOURSELF alone in a dirty house. She doesn't even bother to get to know the other eleves in all the time shes there.

I especially like the part where Anders calls Merrill out for referring to a demon as a spirit. That must have pissed Justice off so much :)People tend to hate Ander's for his rants against Merrill but he has valid points against her each time. At least in my eyes. It feels so satisfying to tell her to #$%! off at her Act III quest. She brought it on her self.

I don't like Merril at all.

My character is not a fan of those who use blood magic. At the end of Merril's story I wish there was an option to stab her.

Sure, she acts all sweet and innocent but she is a complete idiot when it comes to her choice of wanting to save her people, despite them not wanting to be saved.

I keep Merril out of my party unless she is need for a quest of hers. Between, Merrill, Feneris and Sebastian. I think there al the same platform of me not liking them.

Yeah Merrill stays on the sidelines during my play troughs as well. I find that comment she makes at the beginning of Night Terrors to be the final straw in me not liking her.

A character hate thread >.< That's a bit much.

I don't hate any of the characters. That's taking things too personally. They are characters, and quite, QUITE well-written.

Some of my Hawke's adore Merrill; some are repulsed by her. Simple as that.

Kudos to the writer(s); she's a lovely character.
