I liked Act III because it made me feel like i was trying side with a country that was on the brink of war with another. Just like a real war if you are a third party to it.

The ending. simply because it screams for a sequel and we can expect a 3rd game.

It's just unfortunate that we have to wait for the 3rd game to get most of what Morrigan and Flemeth have been alluding to for these past 2 games.

I wanna see the Warden and Hawke team up for some serious **** to go down.

My gut is telling me to say the companion's personal quests. I thought some of the main quests were pretty interestingly done too, though. In time, or after further play-throughs I'll probably agree with the majority and say the Qunari threat. As is, I'm feeling like the climax of the story was the fight between the mages and templars in the gallows.

They probably could have foregone the fight with Meridith entirely and it would have been a more satisfying experience for me. That, or they could have had it happen during that encounter in the gallows. The way it was set up was a little off, I felt. You had a major physical and emotional conflict followed by a period of rest. Then, after you're winding down they throw what's supposed to be the climax of the game at you (Final boss). I wasn't really thinking "Are you kidding me?" At the time...it just felt really hard to care about the fight. I still feel it should have took place during the actual climax, not after.

The Enigma of Kirkwall: ideal fodder for intriguing forum speculation. I like how the city itself may be a glyph.

The most interesting thing to me were the glimpses of what the grey wardens were doing. They seem to be off doing something super awesome while I return my tenth random bottle of wine to a stranger.

Yep, the Qunari and the Arishok. This part should have been way larger.

I will be original: I vote for the Qunati conflict in act.2 .

PS: Oh, even the Enigma of Kirkwall.

I enjoyed the companion quests/storylines the most. Especially Fenris. I thought his storyline was the most interesting.

This really. I loved having companions that really felt like a group of friends that hung out due to just being entertained by each other's company more than any world-saving reasons. I especially loved how they lived lives of their own and hung out with each other between scenes.

The little things really drove it home. Like overhearing Varric talk about keeping thugs away from 'Blondie' and not realizing he was protecting Anders until later on in the act when the two had a talk about it where the nickname was used.

On the overall story, I think Act 2's main plot was the strongest.

edit: geez. Losing my memory. Already responded to this thread with the same answer. Posted Image

In every game, the moments I've looked forward to most have been companion quests (not all of them, but some - mostly the interaction ones, really) and the Qunari. Getting through Act III once all the companion quests are done seems like a really big chore.

Favorite Story Moments in the Game
1. Companion quests.
2. Act II - Qunari
3. Quests getting by on the legacy of Origins: Deep Roads Act I, Grey Warden appearance at end of Act II, Avernus letter about Warden blood, Nathaniel/Zevran/Leliana cameos in Act III.
4. Enigma of Kirkwall codexes

Overall, Act II was the best act.  It had a clear conflict, the Qunari presence, and a clear resolution, defeating the Qunari.  Granted, you could do a summary like that for all of the acts, but I feel like Act II explored its conflict better than the other acts did. Act II did more to get me interested in the Qunari than DAO ever did.  (I'm also smuggling in the Sheparding Wolves quest from Act I as part of the Qunari story of Act II.)  Even though the Arishok was kind of crazy, there was a method to his craziness.  I can see the appeal of subjecting yourself to the Qun--the idea of freedom being choosing to play a role that you fit into.  I don't agree with it.  But it's an interesting viewpoint.  And I can see how if you're losing your cool you might go looking for excuses within your dogma to just lay waste to a bunch of people that you're tired of.  So when the Arishok "snapped" I got it.  When Meredith "snapped" I thought it felt cheap--like her right to snap hadn't been earned in the telling of the story yet.  Whatever criticisms one might have of DA2, I thought the writers did a great job with the Qunari.

Granted, that doesn't mean I want DA3 to be a Qunari story.  I think their time is probably later in the series and that DA3 needs to focus on mages and the Chantry.  Act III could have been better.  I don't feel the sides are presented sympathetically enough.  But what happened is a big enough deal that I feel it's the one you have to follow up on for DA3. In short, I want to see what Leliana and Cassandra plan to do next.

The qunari, what Flemeth was up to, and what this "greater threat" is that the Grey Wardens speak of.

The Qunari conflict, the conversation with the Arishok.  Nothing else.

what i liked the most in Dragon age II, more than anything in Dragon age origins was the 1 on 1 duel with the Arishok, especially if i am basalit'an:

TO THE DEATH ARISHOK!

PS: The Arisok soundtrack while dueling him 1 on 1 makes it uber epic!

The first year - helping build up the smugglars and defending them from the cartel or joining the mercenary group and building their reputation. It was great how all the quests tied together.

Too bad its all in my head

Icwotudidthar and  I loved it.

The best storyline was the Qunari conflict. You were at odds with the Arishok not because he's crazy (unlike certain bad guys in Act 3) nor because he's a primal evil thing (Act 1), but because he's doing what he thinks is right. THIS is the sort of complex character akin to Loghain in DAO that is compelling and interesting. He also looks kinda badass and has a great voice actor.

Too bad he wasn't "epic" enough to start off the conflict of Mage/Templar or we could have had a much more fleshed out story about the Qunari and 3 Acts resulting in a final battle with the Arishok instead of a McGuffined Anime Lightsaber-wielding Meredith.  *sigh*

I remember the emotions of the following parts as most vivid:

-Qunari Questline (felt like a real diplomat and it was nearly philosophical)
-Mother Petrice scenes (really great setting, good camera work, brilliant atmoshpere) and her absolutely tremendous voice overs (what actor was that, it was so well done and fitted to the character)
-Death of mother
-The ghost house
-Overcoming the "prostitute's" blood magic (triumph!)
-Entering the dreamers Fade seeing the companions give in and apologizing afterwards

I felt most involved with the Qunari storyline, and I liked the companions, everything to do with them. I tired of the mage-templar issue, since neither seemed particularly right.

My companions =) loved them to bits! There were some pretty wonderful q's there.

Aveline-the long road
Varric-the mansion in Act 2
Isabella-the kidnapping in Act 3, just did that for the first time not so long ago. First Hawke didn't manage to get Izzy to stick around =)

They are a mix of comic relief and really really sad like Merrills last q and Ander&Karl and Anders&almost killing the girl he wishes to save. Like to see the development of my group so thats the story that I like best    =)

edit: making it sound more clear
