I do believe that "shipped" =/ "sold".

So you might ship 1 mil units but only sell 500k.

Yeah, comapred to those who always trash DA2 repeatedly depsite it being equal to DA1.

DA2 = better writing,s tory, and characters

DA1 = better rpg character system (i want to be dwarf!!!!!!)

DA2 better story?! *gigglefit*

It was a decent story, horribly executed. The only good character was Varric, and the 'story' was all about Varric and Anders. Hawke wasn't important.

"Wonder how many of sales were done for the Free ME2."

Well... if vgchartz is to be believed (it isn't)... very little since most of DA2's sales came in the first couple of weeks BEFORE the ME2 deal was even offered. HA!

"It's probably a waste of time responding to you since it seems you have trouble reading and doing basic math, but if you do brush up on those skills read over the post again and then look what you wrote and see if you can figure out where you went wrong."

I never go wrong. I am always right.

Ah, Does the cute little troll want to play.

I don't trust VGChartz numbers at all.

But the NPD report released yesterday, and specifically commented on DA2 underperforming.

Even more interesting, total game sales are down 15% year-to-year, and down 9% from 2009's high. Two months of 2011 with significant drops. Mind you, that's with Pokemon added in, and sold at least 2 million units, which accounts for around 20% of March's revenues alone. Take Pokemon out of the picture, and it's a really dismal scene. Bodes very poorly for the rest of the year as well, I don't think there are any other juggernauts scheduled this year, 2011 is very likely to prove to be a massive slide.

Edit:

It alreayd broke a million sales, and it did it in 2 weeks. vgcharts is fantasy numbers. Plain and simple.

No it didn't.  Go reread Bioware's post,  they do not claim at all to have sold 1 million units,  they claim to have moved 1 million units.  They cannot use the word "Sold" unless they can definitvely show they did,  as the SEC would fine the heck out of them because they're publicly traded.

So by virtue of the fact that they did not state they "Sold" 1 million units,  we can definitively confirm they did not sell 1 million units.  The only reason not to use the word is because you didn't do it,  but you want people to think you did,  so you carefully craft a statement designed to make the reader think "Sold" instead of shipped.

Your SEC claim is not at all true. Any company can say they moved "x" amount on their respective units. There's no law regarding how to differentiate sales numbers in order to get more sales numbers, as taking it on those words alone is neblulous enough.. Besides, the shareholders would want it no other way when making more profits using such tactics. The time when the SEC gets involved, is when they claim they made such sales as to get investing, at the same time cooking actual profit margins is another thing entirely. EA is not based on one game, but as with all stock market lsitings, they have their initial stock value, along with what liquidable assest/ cash they have on hand that dictates most prospective investing.

Varric and Anders were not the story. Anders was just a blip on the radar. And, Varric was the storyteller. Hawke was the story. the story is all about Jawke.

Unlike DA1. whose story is all about the Archdemon. From starting custscnee to ending cutscne - it's all about stopping the archdemon.

I've got this ace idea for the next marketing campaign.

Platform Sam : I wanted less talking.
Platform Jim : I wanted faster combat.
Platform Tom : I wanted more awesome.
Platform Sue : I wanted more sexy.
PC Bob looks nonplussed in the background.
DA 3 logo pops up.
Everyone else says "My idea!"

I expect to get paid for this.

I take it that because of the over-simplified basis of an RPG that is DA2, that has you favoring it so, is also indicative to your inability to use the "quote" feature in these forums?

which is exaggerated legend. "Jawke" is made up collection of tales from various people including varric.

I use the quote function I was tuaght in school. Were you taught about quotes in school?

YOu want simplicity? Go play BIO's dumbed downest game known as KOTOR. Now, THAT was dumebd down. I much prefer awesome complex games like FO, ARC, NWN, BG2, etc. But, you cna stick to dumbed down crap like KOTOR, S:RPG, and ES series. R00fles!

Arguably you missed your rhetoric and logic lesson in school, should have skipped your quoting lesson for that instead....

Not surprising.  As you sow so shall you reap.  A dismal reward for a dismal product.

Hell, they don't even teach cursive handwriting anymore! My 17 year old step-nephew doesn't know how to write, only to print, and that looks like a 12 year old is doing it.

As much as I was disappointed with Dragon Age 2, this news makes me worry for the future of the franchise.

that makes me sad, since cursive handwriting is like one of the spars handy skills that you can learn in school. (or so i thought)

Direct correlation between the dumbing down of the education system and the dumbing down of video games.  People do not like to be intellectually challenged anymore.  They just want button awesome.

Anders was just a blip on the radar. And, Varric was the storyteller. Hawke was the story.

If Hawke on templar side - he do absolutly nothing. After I have left Anders in his hospital because is no place for gays and freedom fighters in my party he just goes to chantry and blow up it. The end. So it was Anders story, not Hawke, i just walk around and kill some random spawning mobs.
And if you with mages you simply help Anders to do his revolution.
So, why Cassandra looking for Hawke? At the best I was a sword, but not a hand which directs a sword.

I played alot of EQ when it came out and enjoyed it quite a bit.  Just like everything else it became dumbed down after the third expansion.

I played EQ and don't recall it ever being 'smart', just annoying.

DA2 sales are low. Listen to feedback and give the fanbase what they want (hint, it's not part of Mike Laidlaw's "awesome button" vision). That is all there is to learn from this thread. For Bioware. And yes, don't feed the trolls.
