If you help him on ME2, you'll see that while he is an idiot, his intentions are always good. Depending on how you help him, he vows to make a difference by doing what he can instead of pretending to be someone else.

It's not like he is some pretentious dolt trying to gain glory at your expense.

I'm never mean to him ever either. At first it was just because my canon Shep is a straight Paragon (More Paragade in ME2, taking a few Renegade interrupts), but after a few more playthrough, I actually found that I liked Conrad, and I was happy to see him return in ME2.

... Am I gonna be reviled from the forums for this, daddy? (Lulz...)
