I understand this is a much talked about subject, but I'm having problems and just wondering if I should give up trying with this particular save or if there's something else I can try.
I've run the configuration utility, pointed it to the correct documents>bioware>ME>Saves folder. It copies the save file (Char_01-43-2-1-0-7-4-2011-16-40) over the o the correct folder in the ME2 save directory. I then load the game, click new game, click import save from ME1.
In there it has a save file, but there's no name on the save and when I click import, it doesn't noticeably do anyting. However, if I check the ME2 directory, in addition to the file copied from ME1, there's an empty folder with the same name (Char_01-43-2-1-0-7-4-2011-16-40).
Seeing as how I haven't come across this particular problem in my search, I figured I'd start a topic and see if I couldn't get some help. Thanks in advance. If it helps, I have the Steam copy of ME1 and the free download copy from EA of ME2 that I got with purchasing DA2.
P.S. I've also manually copied the save game file from ME1 over to ME2 and it resulted in the exact same thing.

Have you moved the My Documents folder from its default location to another directory and/or drive?
If so, follow the steps in this thread to see if it helps.

Other than that, not sure what the problem is. You could try loading up the final save in ME1 and replaying to see if there was a corruption that caused the problem.

No, haven't moved anything. And, like I said, the file is physically where it should be, and the game actually sees the file when I click 'Import'. It just doesn't have a name on the file and won't actually import anything.
