hey,

I've got the bug where I can not gain any friendship or rivalry points for merrill. ... is there a solution or do I have to load an old save game or wait until the patch 1.03? ... to load an old save game (3h of game playing would be gone) isn't my first option, so I hope that someone does have a solution.

You mean you haven't gained any Friendship points with Merrill on any of the quests?

His profile has the games registered for PC

I see you're playing on the PC. You should be able to use pyGFF to edit your savegame to change your standing with her.

yes, I play on pc ... I mostly quick save just every 2-3h I normally save the game ... yep, I haven't gained any friendship/rivalry points yet. she's neutral. ... ok, I'll try pyGFF.

In act 1 there is sveral, i can't remember them all.
Feynriel quest:
Talk to Thrask with her in the party before you talk to Samson: +10
Give Thrask the letter you find during the quest and don't blackmail him: +10
Let feynriel go to the Dalish: +10

Act of Mercy:
Help the mages but don't agree to kill Thrask: Should give up to +20 depending on your answer choises.

Enemies among us:
Let her chack the templer for possesion and don't say you'll tall the templars: Should gve you some, but i can't actually remember i this ever worked.
Talk to Cullen after saving the templar: Can give you up to +20 depending on your choises.

Talk to her in her house: Can give you +5 but this only works for me when i have gained several points in friendship already.

That's what i remember, she and Aveline is the easiest to befriend if you are pro-mage and take them to the right spots at the right time, i almost always have them nearly maxed a the end of the act.
(Bethany is easier but she doesn't count )

I maxed Merrill before finishing act 1. Had to pick her up immediately before doing any other quest though.
