But wait a minute... Am I just forgetful, or have we actually seen any female tranquils? I can't remember a single one.

There's one in the tower mission of DAO - if you're fast enough to save any of the mages before they turn into abominations, that is.

Elsa in Meredith's quest in Act 3, for example. Origins had few too.

Oh right, now I remember! If you kill the demon fast the tranquil female will be saved.

Yep.

Tomb Raider. Perfect Dark. Metroid. Diablo if you play the sorcerer. If you chose play these you are a crossdressing queer. These are facts. Because Stone cold "I <3 anime" Shirosaki says so.

Again.

Escapism and wish fulfillment. :)

If playing as a woman and being romanced by a guy is your cup of tea in RPGs (or...if you like roleplaying as a woman and going after women when you are a guy then....dude, can you not get a date in real life? :P) then more power to you.

I play male characters because -I- want to be in the setting I am playing in and live the tale through my characters eyes.

If others fantasize about being a woman in such a setting, then that's fine.

I don't think either should be criticizing the other for how they play or what their wish fulfillment is.

To each their own.

I play as a male almost exclusively. Very rarely did I roll a female character. I just can't roleplay them, since to do this properly it would require really getting into the female mindset.... and a womans mind is a mistery to me.

If I want to watch swaying hips...well, there are female party members and I can take control over them while we run around.

And yes..I'm guilty of underssing my party and playing trough some areas nekkid. Some conversation just end up looking funnier that way.

A womans mind is no mystery, once you understand that women don't do logic then everything makes sense. A few tips for dealing with and understanding women....

Everything is your fault.

"Can you?" is code for "You will".

The answer to "does this dress make me look fat?" is "no", don't be honest and say "It's not the dress, it's you"

"You don't listen" is code for "You didn't read my mind".

Women never forget, 20 years later you can be reminded of that time you forgot to pick her up from town. Hard drive manufacturers should research how womens memories work, they are far better than any disk or solid state drive.

"I'll be ready in a minute" is code for "Go and make yourself a sandwich and a coffee, I'll be ready some time next week".

Never expect a straightforward answer a question, you will have to guess what she wants and that guess will of course be wrong.

See, easy to understand.

Now I shall get my coat before the feminists start throwing comfortable shoes at me.

Edit: Pictures were totally off topic and took so much space

But I would add to your list that when women say "Everything's fine!" it often can mean "Nothings fine!". At least in my experience. :pinched:

I've seen this discussion many times in many places, and my impression is that the difference between people who do it don't is that some people play in a way that themselves (more or less) are the character, a "first person" view so to say, while others, like me, play from an outside or "third person" view. My character and me are two completely separate persons in other words. I'm just a spectator, or perhaps rather the director ;)

As such another reason i play with female characters because it makes me care
more about the character and what happens to her. You may call me a
chauvinist if you must

Females don't do logic, eh? I beg to differ.

I would argue it but it was meant in jest so I'm just going to glare instead. >:3

I don't really get the whole "I'd rather stare at a woman's ass for 40 hours" thing. I dunno about you guys, but I'm not sitting here the whole game just staring at my character's ass, or any other characters' asses for that matter.

I'am not you and you're not me. Is that enough or should i say more ?

As if there's more to say? As if even that needed to be said? I thought it was already clear I was talking about my perspective, not yours.

If it adds something to the story, I will usually play the game as a female character along with the male. Getting different lines in the game is interesting (FShep's stripper dialogue when recruiting for ArchAngel's mission). However, if it adds nothing to the story other than the appearance, I do not play as one like it did in Fallout 3.

However, I have to ask is this really some big deal. There won't be anyone waiting outside your door ready to deduct 5 points off of your man card.

Well I was curious about the reasoning behind perspectives other than my own. Just telling me your perspective is different doesn't really answer that, though. I suppose I could guess that you simply prefer to play a character you find attractive and aren't literally staring at her ass for 40 hours straight. (though I assumed as much... I was joking a bit to begin with)

So you weren't disagreeing with me to begin with! I wasn't questioning all possible reasons why one might play a female character. I play female characters sometimes too.
