I forget which number voice my SR2 char has.. it's the one with lines like "Don't get on my bad side, kids!", "Quit ****ing with me!" and "Didn't think I had the balls?". I love it.
All the clothing options in that game are great too, I had this great dark crimson business suit. Might as well look elegant while being a deranged supervillian.

I don't see any other explanation as to why a guy would rather play as a women instead of a man first if everything is exactly the same no matter what gender (which you could say is the case for DA2).

I've given my reason, that you quickly dismissed - quality of the voice actors. In the case of DA2 or ME I prefered the female voice. Sooner or later it will be the other way around. Or, like said numerous times in this thread, that someone is a bit tired of the stereotypical male lead, just to mix things up a bit. In my opinion valid reasons - and far away from perv or questioning my sexuality land.

well I wasn't referring to you although like I said if you played as a female before seeing if you liked the male character (voice actor, looks, etc) then more than likely what I said applies. Also I should've put variables (voice acting, etc) but I am far to lazy to edit my post to do so.

One thing I don't get is guys mod the hell out the game to make all the women look like ****s, they replace Bethany with the big-breasted Bethany from the opening scene. They play games like the Witcher and collect try to get a full card collection of women. They make eye candy whenever possible.

But if a guy makes a female MC for eye candy all of a sudden this is crossing the line to a lot of these same people? Really?

Why? 

I'm never the characters I play, I'm not Mario, I'm not the Master Chief, I'm not Sheppard etc.

I'm a now a 30 year old guy, pale skinned, white/blond hair, rather shy, bookish and I paint for a living, well currently working on my portfolio, and once my latest bout with my selfesteem passes I'll send it off to get some more work as a texture artist or hopefully as a concept artist. I'm straight, not homophobic, and wouldn't care if I wasn't straight, but well I am, I never feel any uncertainty when it comes to gender, not that I'm a alpha male in any sense.

And I'm pretty uncertain about many things in my life, anxious and nervous when I shouldn't be, but I've never felt uncertain about my sexuality, or I like strong independent women with spark and fire, I've always done so, but I'm overly critical about people, including myself - so that I find girls that I hit it off with is rare. Usually I prefer punkish girls, or at least women with an attitude that fits that profile.

Sometimes in depressed states when I'm alone and feel that I'll forever be alone, I'll sometimes find comfort in kind and passive girls, which never works out since once I'm with them and my selfesteem rises they sadly are no longer attractive to me, something I've learnt and thus try I avoid hurting girls like it again through false pretences, or in the end I simply try to be honest and not take it far.

I'm mostly completely normal sexually, sometimes I like to give, and sometimes to be taken care of, or I have ever so slight needs of being or loosing control, and I'm weaker for romance that I had thought I'd be, but also for slight roleplay in bed, and I'm always weak for makeup sex, and I like to argue and debate, so it's not overly rare.

I can also be a bore, since I'm from time to time abcent minded and can become obsessive, I'm also a perfectionist and when things starts to go badly I drive myself and others down.

I make up for it in good moments by being creative, and obsessive, and I like to give surprise presents and gifts, but not to recieve them since I'm never certain how much I should give back, and thus often overcompensate the smallest of gifts or letters.

I look ok, but often feel that I don't, and I talk too much.

& being a obsessive perfectionist with a flare for romance when I do good in bed I do very well indeed, once I felt like I failed I wrestle with it too much ~


And no guy in any game fits who I am, why should I feel that I should play X over Y? Personally I prefer cognitive dissonance when I play games, and will go for the characters that aren't me, not because I'm sick of myself, well sometimes, but rarely - but simply because I want to play someone I'm not and escape into a different world and mindset.

I've never gotten people that get off from this myself either - it's not like it will ever be good porn even if they try - so not really sure what's it about when they try to make games like DA2 into porn.

Wouldn't they be better off conjuring up their own dreams, or just watching actual porn? 

On the other hand there is a lot of weird **** on the net, so I guess some do.

It's okay to admit your perverted, hell I'm probably perverted as well, although I've never felt the need to play as a female in a video game because she's hot. If your reasons for playing a female is because you wanna roleplay in a role playing game cool, but if it's because you like seeing a hot chick just admit it, it really doesn't matter.

This is what you wrote - as I already explained I don't play female characters in games to stare at their ass all day, nor do I have gender issues, so you are blantadly wrong, and I simply decided to show this by displaying my sexual preferences in full, with the rest of my life to show that I have no gender issues either.

Now you are saying that there is a third way, that I simply want to roleplay, but this is what I and many others have said through out this thread.


And to make it even more cleat - I prefer either daydreaming of characters in fiction, or a few select girls I've met through out life - I have no sexual interest in neither female sheppard or the female Hawke, yet I prefer to play these over the male counterparts due to cognitive dissonance, as I prefer to play characters that aren't me.

I find myself making female characters when male characters look or sound bad/ridiculous. One need look no further than just about every male race in World of Warcraft: Human males are apes, practically all horde males are hunched over...

I played mostly male characters in DAO and so far I've only played male characters in DA2 because the art style - though it varied slightly between both games - made men actually look like men and not like steroid-addicted freaks. When you want to play a lithe rogue and your choices are an overly-muscular male and an actually lithe female, you tend to go with the female.

I never said I never did - you asked if the first character was male, and it wasn't - in neither DA2 nor ME2.

I already wrote that I've played ME2 through with a male sheppard, despite that I disliked the animation of the character, the face, and the voice of Meer, (and I've play male characters in ME1 and DA:O, and just finished the Witcher 1, and am waiting for tW2) 

Your argument was simply that if you start out with a female character without first giving the male one a shot you are either perverted on uncertain about your gender.

Hell doesn't even matter, since even if I never had played male characters in any of these games it still wouldn't be true.

And there is a large difference between genders, or for example I never play blond people, or white haired ones if I can avoid it, since I'm blond/white haired ~ simply due to trying to push the character apart from who I am.

And with the genders you get different base meshes, different VOs and so on.

As my previous post impled, i love it when the "hero who saves all" is a woman for how rare it is. For example in the old mercenaries games i mostly played with the female character. I used her for the sneaky, snipy aproach, and the swedish guy for the overkill and then some aproach

So how is this still an issue? Games with a choice between male and female have been coming out for years. in all this time I haven't once heard of a news report or a psychiatrist or anything about it. if all these secretly perverted guys were playing female characters you'd think someone would have caught on, at the very least law and Order: SVU would have done an episode about it.
