Oh good a woman complaining about something.

I'm afraid people won't read my sarcasm and it'll cause a fit.

I'm a guy who plays a female. I've only slept with other female characters in the game so I'm really a lesbian.. I think.

I got tired of lesbians in video games around 19 or so. I don't bother playing females unless it's a different experience, and in Bioware games. . .it's not. As such, I don't see the bloody point.

Then what's the point of playing a male, Harid?

In dragon origins I played a male city elf and he sacrificed himself and rejected Morgana (my fave hero ever) I'm currently playing DA 2 as a female. I figured hawke is an entirely new charachter in the universe. It's an entirely new legend to me, so I chose a comedic rogue female and of course she loves merill. But in mass effect I'm a male in both and complete play throughs. My first time playing a new bioware game for the first time, it's kind of fun.

Because it's a little different. Gotta do things differently every once in a while to keep things interesting. Played a male rogue and female mage.
Didn't really matter as you weren't really playing AS the character, just playing them. Narrative structure didn't really allow you to BE the character. That's another topic though.
If being uncomfortable with your sexuality is an issue and it keeps you from playing the opposite sex in a game, that's all on you.
It's like saying you wouldn't play Tomb Raider or Resident Evil because it features female protagonists. Might as well not play Ms. Pacman if that's the case.

Dude, I hear you... now, I've tried playing girls (for a different experience to my first playthrough only however) and it just never takes to me.  Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE female ass wobbling as much as the next guy, more even.. I just can't get into it/get emmerced in the game world at all playing a girl.

I don't get the ass argument either... who fixates on their male characters ass when playing an rpg?  I think if you back that theory you are a little sexually confused/homophobic (not a lot.. just a little is all i'm saying)...aka they feel like they are being 'gay' by looking at a male character for any length of time.  People who are totally comfortable with their sexuality never even think of the ass argument.

Saying this, I might try playing as a Bull-****** with a male afro and stubble.. and see if I can toe the line, so to speak.. haha.

good time with rpgs.

:) :)

To get some variation in additional playtroughts.

I didn't really borher with the romances, but trying to max out approval often leads to one romance.  DA2 is not the only one of the two games where you end up in situations where you have to enter a romance or insult the other character. Example: Alistair after you give him his mother's pendant as a female character.

What about female players playing male characters? Double standard much, eh?

Dunno. I am a female gamer who plays male characters and female characters about the same amount of the time. My current playthrough, though, is the first one where one of my male PCs will romance a female NPC, though (Isabela). They're usually gay.

I play female main character because I have more interest in women than in men.

I might not be Harid but I will answer. The first reason to play as a male is that the male character is canon, I understand the canon Hawke is a Male Mage and the canon warden is a Male Warrior. The second reason is that the person playing as a male is a male and most people who play these kind of games create their characters based on themselves.
