Yeah that whiner Ser Jory and that Daveth rogue guy who couldn't pick any of the locks in the only zone he was ever used in, those guys were awful.

Okay I had to laugh...almost spit coffee out on my keyboard! Very true ( I love DAO, but yeah).

What's a vagina? Is it a new breed of Darkspawn?

The stated reasons don't justify the amount and the blatancy of it though.

Speaking of "and how do you know that?"

How do I know?
The amount of quests and content in DA2 don't justify the same few maps being used over and over and over.
It also takes away one of the fun aspects of RPGs - exploration. What's there to explore here? We've been here 20 times before.

Isn't the stated reason that they didn't have the budget to do the additional assets required so rather than have less content they re-used the maps to include all the content they wanted to. I'd rather they did this than cut the content. Of course in a perfect world I'd rather they had the addiitional assets but like angrypants I can overlook the re-use.

Oh yeah, I think I did that really late at night. Stupid silly mistakes like that lol.

But I do support them!

Same here. Damn ME3 and KOTOP 3, they took our enviroments!

I'm still willing to bet that ME3 will follow the ME2 pattern and every "base" etc. will have the same level design, right down to the same flower pots and packages neatly arranged to match it.:P

lol, indeed. I still think its funny that there's a Ser Jory avatar pic but none for other DA companions . At least you can make a couple bucks off them if you strip them of there clothes & armor. But then you have to deal with watching them punch wolves in their "small clothes"  :D

The majority of the content was those stupid filler quests. I'd rather have less of those and more variation.

Actually, I want a city like in the witcher series, you know, NPC's that react, and don't just stand there in the same spot 24/7.

In TW1, I followed a dwarf merchant from his home, which was about half or more across the map, walking to his stall. Now that's pretty darned impressive imho.

Must agree with ze luff for Vizima. (Even though the outskirts were ARGH) However: Every house interior in TW1 looks the same except plot heavy places. (Triss' crib, the taverns...)

And? The time and budget constraints (of a huge corporate title, by the way) aren't my problem. The game has a flaw, -why- it has the flaw is irrelevant to me as a consumer.

Though I don't buy that excuse of "we wanted to put in more quests!" If that was the case, why waste so much time on an already cramped schedule reworking the graphics style? A style that has been overwhelmingly disliked.

Honestly, had he not wasted so much dev time on reworking the art style and button=awesome DA2 might have had enough story and quest content to actually be worth buying.

You get plenty of that in Bethesda games. They attempt to simulate the world. If Bioware doesn't have a dwarf walking from his home to his stall its because it has no bearing on the story.

Granted, the fact Kirkwall is - via the story - supposed to be choked with refugees we rarely ever see is a problem. But expecting a simulated world from Bioware is like expecting interesting companions or a good story from Bethesda.

In TW1, the crowd in Vizima may as well have been foliage for as much as the majority of them mattered.

And I doubt that cutting those dirt simple filler fetch quests even entirely from the game would have freed up enough time and resources to even create a single zone. They're dirt simple for a reason, because they're an efficient way to assist the player in accumulating XP and coin in a slightly different but no less simple way than "collect X corpse galls."

It's a mediocre game, all on its own. Even without the comparison to other Bioware games (in which it comes up WAY short) it's just not that great.

Let's just take an example here: Time transitions.

Lazy, lazy, lazy. NOTHING HAPPENED. Nothing changed, companions (love interests in particular) didn't change and grow due to your influence, the city still felt dead as a door nail (NPCs didn't even change spots), the architecture of the city changed a tiny, tiny bit, but overall it was handled poorly.

Fable 2 (2008) did a better job with time passage, as did Fable 3 (2010).

Don't hype the hell out of something (RISE TO POWER OVER TEN (it's seven by the way) YEARS!!!11) and do a half-assed job on it.

We didn't dislike the game because we disliked change (okay, to be fair that was part of it) but, speaking for myself at least, I disliked it because it wasn't very well done in a lot of places. Little things were glossed over, and if you do that enough it shows and it did in DA2.

Yep red shirts!  Oh I didn't strip them until we got to the chest. Major laughs everytime Daveth says, "She's a Witch of the Wilds, she'll put us in the pot for sure!" And naked Daveth replies, "If the pot's warmer than this forest, I think we should follow her."

Now that is impressive.  I got bored with the unchanging furniture...erm people standing around 24/7 for 7 years.  I know Varric is telling the story, but really  I felt like the ending of Blazing Saddles with the cutout townsfolk, except that instead of funny it was...sad and stupid.

Yeah, the witcher got cities right(I want to live in Vizima!). Sad how Kirkwall was so lifeless, compared to that Vizima, which was "constructed" by a smaller company.

Then why should they "apologize" for explaining that they have time and budget constraints?  Are you personally insulted that this flaw exists, and such constraints are the cause?  Or are you just annoyed by it and hope it doesn't happen again?  There is a difference, and I'm not really directing my comments at the latter.

Presumably because they have different priorities than you.  This falls under the "I don't buy the excuse because it isn't what I want to hear, not that it doesn't make sense" complaints.

Hey makes me a perv too I guess! LOL!  But yes it was funny to walk up to Duncan with a naked Daveth and Jory and say to Duncan, in my head, "Don't ask, they lost a bet."  And I did enjoy watching Duncan kill a naked Daveth with a sword I had taken and sold to the quartermaster magically appear. ROFL!

I feel like stripping them adds a lot more personality to the scene. Imagine that Duncan demanded they get naked for the ritual before he asks them to taste some taint. That's way more horrifying.
