No, i find i highly value the opinion of my wife and friends. When they disagree with an assessment of mine i don't tell them to "**** off and die." I simply have a problem with both sides of the coin acting like Rinpochelameberry. The system is flawed because people who would generally be objective find that they cannot be because of individuals who are intent on not being so. This leads to petty cycle of hate and vitriol, of which i find myself participating in more often than not because of the hate elicited by comments i find retarded and without and level of objectivity. Such as someone so easily and flippantly dismissing issues one might make with a particular game. Just from that alone you could make the case that Laidlaw was insulting a portion of the fanbase because he apparently pays them no heed. Being objective pretty much dictates that he know about, and probably acknowledge the more poignant issues that are brought up. Seemingly that begins and ends with re-used areas, which is also the only point anyone is apparently willing to concede.
Friends and family? Sure, I suppose. Random people on the internet who usually hide behind their anonymity? Heck no. No one here has to care about the opinions of others, though we are expected to respect those opinions. Now, does Bioware have an obligation to at least read the feedback offered by their customers? Sure. And they do. They have said multiple times that they read and chronical the various opinions presented here. That is what the constructive criticism thread is for, after all.
As for your involvement, if you hate the "petty circle of hate and vitriol", don't post. Its simple. I have seen a number of posts made by you that just add fuel to the fire. Self-control: Find some. I don't like most of the posts on this board either. Heck, most of them are just silly, much like the first post in this thread. That's why I don't post terribly often.
As for Laidlaw, I have yet to see anything said by him that I would consider insulting. Maybe I have thicker skin then most. I don't know. However, it seems to me like some people are actively looking to be insulting so they can come to the forums and rage about it. Just like when people took Laidlaw's comments out of context and then proceeded to insult him by calling him illiterate.
Oh, and do you know why most people only agree on the re-used maps? Its because most everything else is completely subjective. Opinions, yo. People have them. Refer back to paragraph one.
