Since we were talking about the story and reactivity to choices, none of those things except possibly "disjointed" actually applied to the discussion.

I actually have the exploding corpses disabled through a mod.  The closing animations I've described in many posts, even before release - usually with a graphical aide:

(Too Slow/Stupid)<------(DAO)------|Mytical Middle Ground|------(DA2)------>(Too Fast/Silly)

Though I'd prefer the middle ground, if I had to choose between too fast or too slow, I'd pick too fast.   It doesn't shock me others would prefer too slow.  It does shock me whenever anyone describes Origins as "realistic" or "gritty" though.

The blood splatter I have turned off, as I turned it off in Origins.  Hell, Mount and Blade did it better than both games.

The story was fine to me, no more disjointed than Origins which took place in very disconnected places (Orzammar vs. Redcliffe vs Brecilian Forest) and has a boring big bad villain.

And Varric was bloody awesome.

That being said, I'm entirely sure you meant to mock any positive points of view - probably because you don't have the perspective necessary to accomodate points of view that are different from your own.  Don't feel too bad, most people have this same handicap.

Op raises good questions for those of us who did enjoy the way origins was, I said it before and untill you guys stop being trolls, I'll say it again the op stated a question about why laidlaw insulted origin's fanbase, basically all the people who prefer origins to it's sequel, I have read the interview too, It was I don't remember where I read it, but it was roughly 6-8 pages, he dodged a lot of questions and did bash the first game and that games fan a little bit it wasn't too harsh, it was however uncalled for and a bit on the rude side but for what it's worth I asked the same question and was answered by a friendly mod who agreed with some of my statement while seeing the other side as well.

But i only care about my opinions! I have seen the error of thinking that being objective leads one away from the personal slandering and tangents put forth only to mock. Why should i place my self so far above them as to not participate? Participation is fun! Especially when i have license to be a douchebag because only my opinion matters! I don't care if you like grapes, i think grapes suck! I hope you choke on them! Why? Because i don't care, but but if i wish you to choke on them then i clearly do care.. uh oh... uhhh uhhhhh why am i posting on a ****ing board if i only value my opinion?

Clearly to show the masses the errors of their ways or to somehow affirm my belief that these boards are a cess-pool.

I've achieved the moral ambiguity of shorts, ahhhhhhhhh so this is what it feels like.

You don't quite have the hang of it.

One issue I'll point out is that the opinions I was speaking of in that context was the overall quality and value of a game.  If we're going to have a discussion of specific features, other - reasonable - opinions are useful.

The problem is finding them on these boards without running into "Fire Mike Laidlaw" posts or other childish vitriol is nigh impossible.

You're right, i need to pick only the battles in which i feel i can claim objectivity and both properly convey my apathy towards everyone else. -_-

Hah!  Saying I claim objectivity is like saying Fenris loves magic.

I claim subjectivity.  And dismiss claims to objectivity with snark.  That's kind of my thing, or have you not been following along?

There was probably a time when fenris did love magic! That time being before da2 came out. :D

These fanboys sure prove how strong denial can be. The denial in this thread is so strong it warps reality.

Never mind the rest of your absolutely respectful, well written and constructive post but....

Reality is more warped by melodramatic egomaniacs howling about the Lead Designer of a game insulting their precious little level of importance.

And by expecting said Lead Designer to apologize, call his own creation crap...because THEY think so and clearly, Mr. Laidlaw MUST be brought to see that, no matter the cost! Burn the witch!

:pinched:

Tell me, Oh Wise One, why do they resort of "Bashing DAO" so much?

I haven't seen outright bashing.

As I work in Sales & Marketing, I'm very familiar with that kind of strategy when advertising a new product. So it doesn't bother me. Laidlaw could bash DAO 24/7 for all I care. Wouldn't change my love for it at all.

You see, I do care. But fair enough, diferent opinions of care.

I wish I could find that amusing.

But I cannot. Esp. knowing Danarius and what he did to Fenris.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

You never concede that they are allowed to possess an opinion, let alone convey it should it not align with your own.

Why should we do that? Did you miss the divergence caused by the misuse of a popular phrase? We must deride those who even attempt to convey an opinion we disagree with. The forum dictates!

You're really arrogant to think anything beyond the initial post i made since returning to the thread, and perhaps the one after had anything to do with your persona. Unless of course you revel in your  hypocrisy. In which case i might see how you would come to that conclusion.

I can't tell if this means you're familiar with Ron Swanson, or you aren't.  The funny part is, I think it'd probably work either way.

Why? i'd think it's cause the majority of you are whiney children who only know how to cry & complain for attention cause mommy bioware doesn't wipe your arses fast enough to your liking

I have never in my entire life seen such a group of the most inept, self entilted little brats gathered in together ever, i could find more manners, common sense & maturity at a day care for rich brats than the sheer mindless follow the leadrer crying most of you show on a daily basis here

If anything i give Laidlaw credit for not simply perma baning every moron who starts idiotic threads like these, you are all beyond pathetic and i can only imagine the sheer disgrace you are to your parents if they could see what pathetic little children you act like, truely a disgrace

Sounds to me like the OP just wants Laidlaw to agree with them and to publicly admit that DA2 is a bad game. But Laidlaw doesn't agree, so the OP feels insulted. They feel insulted when another person has a different opinion to them about whether a game is bad? Really?
