Sorry, he was wrong when he said that.

Makes sense to me if the word asexual doesn't mean what it normally does in regards to the Asari.

And they are not female.

This as well.

Word of God > all

Tali is only romanceable as male shep.
If the are asexual, how in the nine hells do they reproduce then? Cloning? are they born pregnant?
Also, why did Tali jump into bed with shep if she has no interest in sex?.
On a side note: some Quarian NPC talks about sex in the bar on Illium, so clearly, they are not asexual.
The Asari may not see them selves in a male/female, but they work just like a human female (except for not taking DNA), so therefore is female, as far as any other speices in ME universe is concearned.

Casey Hudson used the word asexual for the Asari, which is clearly wrong.  He also got the names mixed up.  Asari require a partner to reproduce, they have sexual organs, they are not asexual.

Since CH clearly made a mistake, we refer to the codex, and the codex (the Bible of the Developers) clearly states that Asari are female.

Case closed.

asexuality
1: lacking sex or functional sex organs <asexual plants>
2:a: involving or reproducing by reproductive processes (as cell division, spore formation, fission, or budding) that do not involve the union of individuals or gametes <asexual reproduction> <an asexual generation>
3: devoid of sexuality <an asexual relationship>

^That^
The Asari Clearly have a sex drive, as is quite evident during the games.
If they were asexual, they wouldnt have had a want/need for it.
Titts, ass, and an organ for giving birth(which is strongly hinted at being the same as in a human female).
If I had to label the Asari I would say they are Bisexual if anything.

Im guessing Casey used the term asexual wrong.

[/quote]

QFT.

I self-identify as asexual. Meaning, I have no interest whatsoever in sex. None. Nada. I don't think it's a bad thing, but it's not something I care for on a personal level.

The asari, however, have shown to be every little bit the opposite of what an asexual individual is.

If anything, the salarians are the asexual species, here. Not the asari.

Liara = Female. All the asari = female.

ffs.

Casey also called her Tali.

I don't think he knew what he was talking about.

They're not the writers. The series' lead director can't even distinguish Liara and Tali by name.

And if they do say something like this and confirm it to be canon and not a mistake, then they're contradicting the original lore.

Okay, you were just fvcking with me  <_<:D

If you have to change the definition, then, under the real definition of the word, Asari are not asexual. Thanks.

Wow man, I have had two threads today about this thing. One guy said Asari were not female because he lived in his own particular world/reality in which they aren't. Then there's this, when people have to resort to change the definition of words. How my skull is not broken yet due to so many headdesks is something I don't understand.

Exactly.

Still perfectly valid. It's their work after all. And if they decide Asari aren't female they aren't female.

Nope.  Codex is word of God.  God cannot contradict themself.  So when they mix up Tali and Liara and Liara being female, we still go with the game data.

Case closed.

An organism comes in a few variants:
Male
Female
or.. male and female in one.
Or Genderless
Asari clearly have female reproductive organs so they are female.

I dont see whats so hard to understand about that.

Nope. What the devs say is WoG, Codex is also WoG but anything more present overrides what's in thepast.

New WoG > Old WoG

The Asari aren't female because Hudson said so.

Which makes more sense when we're not dealing with a fictional series.

Which in that case WoG  > Science

Otherwise a lot more than just Asari make no sense.

Nope, more present has obvious errors, like mixing up Tali and Liara's name and that Liara is female - we default to in-game data.

Or, are you saying Tali is now Liara? Or are you cherry-picking what you want to believe?

Ryzaki and Makenzie are clearly punking us here, folks. Or they're laying an elaborate trap for the devs, in order to rout them out and make them clarify those quotes. Well done, I was totally taken in there for a minute.
