Is it even playable without blowing the crap out of your melee everytime it explodes? I tried using Orsinos staff for the templar fights before facing Meredith. I can say that I was surprised the first time I got a 2000 insta kill on my rogue for "no reason".

It's do-able so long as you take control of your melee (you should only have 1 on NM anyway) and manualy move them out of the area.

Really depends on your party setup. Playing a DW rogue for instance (almost) requires either Aveline or Fenris.

Too bad really that you are so locked down with just one way to set up your party on Nightmare.

Cut Fenris right out of there.  Two Handed Warriors do not mesh with DW Rogues on Nightmare.

Isn't too bad if you ask me. Takes a little more micro then if you are using Aveline but it definitly works. That was pretty contradictive to what my original post was about. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm a confident player and all my 3 playthroughs so far have been on Nightmare.

EDIT: Wow I sounded like a real douche there.

You can use Walking Bomb on Nightmare if everyone has 100% spirit resistence. Otherwise, they get blown to bits.

copy/paste from my Nuke Mage thread

Updated, better version of Walking Bomb tactics:

Anders/PC Hawke

(Spirit Bolt/Spirit Strike, Walking Bomb/Corrosive Walking Bomb/Virulent Walking Bomb, Glyph of Paralysis/Binding)

Enemy: Paralyzed - Walking Bomb
Enemy: Clustered with at least three enemies - Glyph of Paralysis
Enemy: Paralyzed - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target of Anders - Spirit Bolt

Sebastian/Varric

(Fatiguing Fog/Impenetrable Fog/Overpowering Fog)

Enemy: Paralyzed - Fatiguing Fog
Enemy: Paralyzed - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target of Anders - Attack

With this, the detonating enemy is immobilized, and you can unload on them/nuke them/move your party out of the way if the need be, and it's basically hands-free! This is the tactics setup I've been using in my recent videos, so try it out, and let me know what you think.

If you're a Force Mage and proficient with Gravtic Ring and Pull of the Abyss, it is hands down the most satisfyingly destructive power for Mage on NM. No other Mage spell (not even Crushing Prison) even comes close to its damage output. Get Elemental Aegis + Spirit Resistance Rune for all your Warriors and you're set.

Cool, will definitely try this one out.
