hey, so i managed to lose my save files from DAO, however, i was wondering, is there is a default world that you play within when you don't import a save? Or, do you get to select, before you start playing, what choices you made (or would have made) in the first game?
also... on a side note... what would you prefer for DA2...
1. console on 55 inch HD and surround sound
or
2. PC on 23 inch HD monitor with stereo sound
just a succint answer would be fine... thanks for your time...

There are I think 3 default backgrounds you can choose, one for a human/elf/dwarf warden and all have different endings (eg the elf ended up sacraficing themselves).
I'd prefer DA2 on PC but then again I'm biased.

There are three preset backgrounds you can use instead of importing.

great thanks for the info...
not to belabor the issue, but are those major choices the only things reflected in the second game or are things like side quests you did, people you helped etc. also reflected?
in other words, im trying to determine if i should play through again for a more enhanced experience for DA2. not that i'd be twisting my own arm playing the first one... it's just a big time commitment.

Nothing world-shattering, really. A few cameos and secondary quests. Not trying to spoil anything but for example, depending on how he ended in DAO, Alistair can appear in DA2 in 3 different possible ways, or not appear at all. He never has much to say though.
