If he dies because my decisions lead to that I'm fine.
If he dies because none of my decisions really matter and the ending is fixed on him being dead I' not.
If the consequences of my Sheps action culminate in his death so be it. But if all roads to lead to them dying well then that's a problem.

In ME2 the ending where Shep dies is actually even more emotionally moving than the perfect everyone lives ending.... that said, I still prefer the everyone lives ending hehe.. but playing ME2 to completely kill everyone off in your squad plus Shep can be a very emotional experience.

I'd like to see this ending, which could be the opposite case: Everybody on earth died except Shepard.

But if there's a chance we can die, I'd definitely do that for one of my playthroughs. I see it as a satisfying end, after saving the whole guddam galaxy.

But that means no ME3 DLC for Bioware 0.0

We want ultimate sacrafice, death by choice, heroic act.
call it what you want. But that optin is needed, wanted and a litle bit expected (in a good way )

I think that the heroic death will be an option, an maybe even an "evil" survival, but I seriously doubt that it will be the only option. Unless we need to wait for a patch...

To echo the opinion of several others, I don't mind death as an option. But to have a sacrifice as the only ending seems stale to me. It has become something of a standard "dark" ending. Couple that with the forced "death" at the beginning of ME2, and the tacky factor goes up even further. So having death as one possible ending, sure. As the only possible ending, no.
Yeah. I think the key factor is that there should always be choices. Personally, I wouldn't mind, but alternatives should exist for those who don't think like me.
The whole point of Mass Effect is to have each player writing Shepard's story differently.
But BioWare already confirmed that there will be multiple endings, so I believe there is nothing to worry about.

THANE: Yes, but he had to leave unexpectedly. And then circumstances forced us all to separate, all except for him and Ashley, of course...

So I hope this is at least an option.

I want Shepard to be able to both live or die at the end based on your choices, A scripted unavoidable death in a game so heavily focused on choice would be silly to me.
This. Just because he survives the ending of ME3 doesn't automatically mean he has to be the protagonist in new games.
I want endings where he and friends die, and endings where he and friends live.
I'm sure Bioware will have both.

As for Shapard dying in ME3....well it depends how it’s done. It could be good or it could be stupid and cheesy. So long as it’s done well and it makes sense I really wouldn’t mind Shepard dying in every ending just so long as the rest of the ending (in regards to everyone else and the state of the galaxy) is different based on your choices and past actions.

I think it would be an appropriate end to Mass Effect 3 if Shepard was in a reverse Virmire situation, with Shepard being placed in Ashley and Kaiden's position and having to decide whether or not to save him/herself.

No, too cliche.
I don't see how.
Flowers and butterflies endings outweight endings where the protagonist dies like 100 to 1, and that's being generous.
