I suppose there's also possibly the chance that Shepard tries to make some kind of ultimate sacrifice, but somehow survives.

One thing is for sure, i want a conclusive ending and not a tease one(where the hero just dissapears and u dont know if his dead or alive)

I hate the happy ever after endings...

they are SOO unrealitic i cant just stand them...people is dying, entire species were reaped, so many family members lost forever..a lot of work to find people and rebuilt infraestructures..and shepards biggest concern now is to marry and go honeymoon?...

Between diabetes fairy tale sweet ending and shepard dieing heroically, i vote shepard dieing.

If he dies because my decisions lead to that I'm fine.
If he dies because none of my decisions really matter and the ending is fixed on him being dead I' not.

Basically this.

In other words, it should be a consequence of your previous actions, either during ME3 itself or the preceding chapters (or even a combination of both). I wouldn't want it forced on me as the only possible outcome for Shepard.

I'm happy if there's more than 2 endings and that they're not similiar to each other

I have different play troughs, so I want different endings. Dying would be one of them probably, but not the only one.

The ending that would make me throw my controller at the screen would be to have Shepard and/or her/his team (if s/he dies) standing amid the rubble of a devastated city saying, "We've beaten the Reapers!" and then the camera pulls back swiftly into space and in the distance there's a mysterious blinking light and threatening music, "...Or did we? The End?"

It's funny because I could see this happening.

An ending I would enjoy is Shepard winning the battle of earth but then receiving a lot of distress calls because the war continues in other systems, though now it's clearly tilted towards organics because earth was the reapers' main objective. So Shepard says there's still a lot of killing to do, and we see the Normandy going away from a devastated earth and entering a mass relay.

What about the ending of the game itself is a montage of death scenes of each character in the game, start with Thane, and end with Liara 900 years later, in her house, surrounded by family members, and a wall full of pictures of all her ME teammates, quietly passed away while Legion holding her hands. Yep Six Feet Under style.

I want Shepard to be able to both live or die at the end based on your choices, A scripted unavoidable death in a game so heavily focused on choice would be silly to me.

If my choices put me that position, then by all means. If it's a scripted, unavoidable death, not so much.

I want a dramatic death option, a happily ever after option, and somewhere in between. There's going to be multiple endings so I don't see why not. :)

I think it would be an appropriate end to Mass Effect 3 if Shepard was in a reverse Virmire situation, with Shepard being placed in Ashley and Kaiden's position and having to decide whether or not to save him/herself.

This is the best idea I've heard. Though it shouldn't necessarily be Kaiden/Ashley, could be any number of people. Would provide a choice (but a difficult one) which is essentially the main thing Mass Effect is all about.

"Save myself, save my love interest, or save Earth?" And you can pick only one. Also it's a timed decision :P

And.... GO

Yes.

"It's not a good story unless the hero dies."

Not before 150 years of happy life with Liara after the Reapers are defeated and a lot of blue children, though.

I don't want any decision except maybe your last to make his death unavoidable. Sure killing the X in ME 1 might increase the chance he dies, but I don;t want to make it inevitable because you made some rene/paragade choice at point Z in a 3 game story. Or even rene/paragon choices overall etc. Things might make it harder or easier but nothing should assure it. And I hope there are some surprises on what makes it easier or harder. If paragon = the right choice for making it easier across the board I wont be happy.

No! Shepard and Liara having lots of blue babies is the only acceptable ending for my Shepard.

I'm of the opinion that there should probably be an ending where Shepard dies. I think it would be a rather fitting way for Paragons to go. Making the Renegade choice something that people will actually consider as well. Maybe you've been the Superhero the whole series, but at the end you prove to value your Shepard's life the most? Or maybe you've been Arse the entire series, but finally decide to do something noble? The end probably won't be that way though.

Though if Shepard dies no matter what that would be kind of a downer. I'd like to see some ending where Shepard lives on.

i think there should be a few endings, i know i want a good ending in there, that is a must. i dont want to have played three games just to have shep die, and that the only ending i would be so angry

i dont much care about the good aslong its good and its not a fairytale ending, or its not that much of a good ending, ill be happy

but shepard dieing it has to be good, it cant be like me2 ending, where he just falls, shep has to go out in a blaze of glory by him self, i was thinking that he is just standing somehwere enemys are coming from all sides shep just killing them all runs out of ammo then using hand to hand combat, then he dies or does something to make something blow and kill like a hundred reapers, or somesort of suicide run

For Mass Effect 3 to satisfy everyone, there needs to be a variety of endings spanning the breadth of "ending tropes".

For people like me, who need that Happy Ending to feel fulfilled in a game, there needs to be an ending where Shepard walks out alive, with his LI and entire squad still breathing.

For others, there needs to be an ending where the Reapers win unconditionally, and the cycle continues.

And there needs to be everything -- or as much as is technically feasible -- in between. In some endings, Shepard needs to die, be it ignominiously or in a Blaze of Glory. In some, Shepard needs to live, but his squaddies or LI need to die. The endings just need to be many and varied, and need to depend on the choices you made in all three games. Didn't save the Rachni? You're locked out of Ending C. Killed Wrex? Oh, so sorry, you can't get Ending A. Kept the Collector Base? Congratulations, you can have Ending K.

It's the only way everyone will walk away happy.

If a death is forced upon us, by making some 'wrong' decision in the past, then I'll be disappointed.

Isn't it in the confirmed features thread that the game will be playable post-endgame again like ME2? Realistically, that seems to be the most likely scenario. If Shepard dies at the end of ME3, BW/EA can't sell you any DLC for the game.

Me, I'd love nothing more than to have Shepard go out in a blaze of glory.
