Is it just me or are people beginning to act like Mass Effect is reality? People are giving these big moral speeches about Renegade and Paragon, bringing these philosophies and historical similies into the mix to help govern their actions. They are also saying they will exact revenge upon BIOWARE by destroying the mass effect civillizations IN THE GAME and act like that affects other players.
People are also beginning to start using all these real life analogys to help understand random ass things in the game such as people comparing the Cerberus to the N@ZIS and what not which although is a suprisingly good analogy, is still going a bit far considering it's a game. But worst of all, people are personally insulting each other over what they chose to do in the game and are again comparing it all to real life and slandering other players because they didn't study historical events that seem similar to those in question in the game...it's ridiculous.
It's what nerds do.
Could be worse, we could actually be debating over the morality of the deaths of gladiators for our amusement. That's what people use to do before video games. That or public executions, sacrifices, etc.
People always get their knickers in a knot over stories, plays, and movies. Why should Mass Effect be any different? It may just be fiction, but a good story is one you can relate to. Even though it's all made-up it causes us to question things about our own world, maybe even our own morals. Is that really a bad thing then?
As I've understood Bioware's intent is to make games more then just the mindless fun. Obviously the games are still made to be fun, but they are also suppose to make you think a little. And not in the way of simply solving puzzles and such.
