Haekw's Abilities Bugged

I'm playing a game as a mage and I keep having the problem where, when in vombat, my abilities ar grayed out and unesable.  I have enough to use the abilities, byt  the says that the ability is "temperarily disabled", al though onddly heal and my dudtained abilities (including the dog) are still usable..  This makes my charator unable to do much other than fore off magic attacks with his staff.  This whould seem to be a bug in the program so I'll likely have to wait for a patch for it.

You're probably trying to cast offensive spells while Healing Aura is active. Try to read the description more closely.

Agreed. This certainly sounds like the case. As is, healers are pretty nerfed. Only spells from Spirit healer and creation trees as well as the few defensive spells like rock armor and arcane shield remain available while healing aura is active. There are some mods to change this behaviour (allowing group heal without healing aura, or allowing offensive spells during healing aura).

@ Signo Vir just out of curiosity, could you point me to the mod mentioned that allows offensive spells during healing aura? I poked around on the Nexus and can't seem to locate it.

hmm, I found the mod to allow unrestricted group heal. can't seem to find the other one. Starting to wonder if it was just my imagination. Looking at abi_base.gda I don't see any field that would suggest offensive spells should be disabled. There's still some ability data I can't find,

There is a table with talents (other than abi_base) that has a few columns. One of those columns flags a skill as being offensive. a workaround would be to make all of the spells "non-offensive". Hopefully that wouldn't cause them to stop doing damage. Now, I just need to find the bloody table...

Interesting. I'll look around and see if I can locate it, but please let me know if you find it first. ;)
