I used Neural Shock on my last Engiee. Thinking about rolling a new one. Problem is I want to use GSB, I tried it last time but it's like there was no point. I want to use the Improved evo for the + weapon damage with the GPS but the cooldown is ridiculous. Any suggestions, or should I just go with Heavy Drain?
How to use GSB effectively ?

I have used the GSB on Soldiers, Infiltrators, tried it on Engineers(specd out after a few missions), Adept(barrier too), and even the Vanguard and found at higher difficulties, the boost isn't worth the CD. If you use it, then only pop it before getting into combat or in total emergency situation to recharge your shields(upgraded medigel is better for this). I have found on my plays that other powers are better because of the shorter CD and Energy Drain has a similar effect if you can find a shield to drain. On my Engineer, I ended up with Dominate(was very fun), my Vanguards and Adepts run Stasis, Infiltrators run Warp/AP ammo, and Soldier well, haven't played in a while, don't remember what, only have two and they may still have GSB.
If you haven't tried Dominate on an Engineer, then you really ought to give it a whirl unless you don't want to mix in "biotic" classes powers on a tech for Roleplaying reasons. Other than that I would probably suggest ED or Neural shock.

Area Drain is better than GSB on any mission where dudes have shields (not sure why you'd use Heavy, Area seems to strip most shields completely on insanity). And GSB is just not something usable in combat unless you are about to die without it...just nice to put on before combat.

Area/Heavy Drain is always better than GSB because their damage/shield boost values benefit from Tech upgrades. With 6 Tech Upgrades either will boost your Shield more than GSB (Mechanic OR Demolisher). Needless to say, Drain also benefit from Tech cooldown upgrade.
Heavy Drain is worth considering because it actually has an AOE (1.2m) that is enough when used correctly (Shadow Broker flying trucks). It also provides a significantly bigger Shield boost when you have enough upgrades (upgrades magnify the difference betweem Area Drain and Heavy Drain damage/boost). Heavy Drain also allow you to strip basic troopers in one go on early NG+, whereas Area Drain does not.
In missions without Shielded enemies (Bloodpack/Collectors) you'd probably want to take Reave anyway.

It's probably best on an infiltrator. You would need to activate it before combat (which is tedious) but because infiltrators are the best at avoiding shield depletion (because of cloak), you will keep the damage bonus easier than any other class. I was most disapointed when I found it didn't interact with the geth shield upgrades.

I doubt the 10% damage bonus from GSB is even noticable. And when your shields go down very quickly on insanity I don't really see the value of it.
As a caster class I'd rather save my cooldowns for other things. Particularly when you're relying on a drone to save your life, you can't go around using powers with huge cooldowns. Well you can, but I'm thinking it will hurt you more than help you.
I also agree with the post above mine. It makes more sense on an Infiltrator, considering how Cloak tends to mess with their shield recharge.

For an engineer I don't see why you'd want to mess with the cooldown of GSB. Heck I'm recasting my drone so often I don't have time for any other cooldowns.

I honestly don't bother with it; cooldown is way...too long.

Thanks for the replies. I went with Shield Jack for Bonus. It has a short cooldown and Drain does the same thing as GSB. Now should I replace it with Overload because of the overlap or with Cryo blast? Drain doesn't blow sh*t up does it?

For Engineer it depends on whether you want points in Overload to unlock Incinerate and no Energy Drain doesn't explode pyro's or canisters. If not going for Incinerate then I'd leave Overload as you can still explode pyro's by shooting the tanks or using a squadmate's version to blow it up.
As for any other powers it depends on how often you want to use ED as a bonus and the use of Combat Drone. Both Cryo and AI Hacking are very useful powers for the Engi, worth a try.
