 System information:
64bit, Windows 7
DX9
Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz  2.13GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Graphics: Geoforce 9800GTX/9800GTX+

Okay, so basically... after I installed the new patch and updated my nvidia driver, I got some weird problems. The first time, it occurred when I was playing in a window to look at character creation sliders (screenshots saved to my computer) to make a new character. It got weird red lines on the sceen, got stuck, and I was forced to restart the computer since I could not see anything on the sceen anymore. When the computer resumed, the resolution size was off, there were funny lines on the screen, but I could still use everything. Apparently, my graphics device detected a problem and that's why it temporarily didn't work. I rolled back my driver to an old version and restarted. Correct resolution was restored. I tried the game again.

Same issue. Eventually, I used windows restore to reset ithe computer to an earlier time without affecting documents or files (only programs) and it worked again; this time, however, I made sure not to play in a window. I only exited using alt-tab, which minimizes it, which means the graphics card doesn't need to render it in a window, right? Worked perfectly for an entire night.

I thought it was fixed. I played again today. I did not use a window, but I did use alt-tab. I believe that I was on an old driver version but a new patch (1.02). I was concerned that the driver was causing problems. Same problem. Froze, graphical glitches and lines on the sceen. Forced to restart, but could not start up. Startup repair fixed it and it started up. Updated again to a new driver. I tried the game again, worked longer, but this time, the graphical glitches were less severe. The computer crashed, but it managed to restart by itself without any additional glitches.

Windows update installed that nvidia driver for me: it had a date of 2/23/2011, but I can't find it on the nvidia website at all. Maybe windows installed the wrong driver? Is there a better driver I can use? Does anyone have a similar problem with the new patch?

I'm going to install various windows performance updates and stuff, then I'll try the game again to see if the problem persists. If it does, I may have to reinstall DA2.

Install the new Nvidia Beta driver directly from their website. It is version 270. I wouldn't let Windows install a driver update for your card.

jm,   seems like a false-ish alarm............default from game put my graphics on very high so, after reading some of the forum, i declined the setting to HIgh.  been playing now for an hour or so and the crashes seem to have gone.
