What happened to Starfang?

This is from a lore point of view, but I'm wondering.

As we all know, the sword disappears from your inventory when you start Awakening, simply because it's a DLC item.

But, as Starfang exists in the DA2 files, it seems likely that it will reappear in a DLC...

So, any theories as to what might have happened to it? Was it destroyed in slaying the Archdemon, and BW is teasing us? (my original fanon explanation) Was it stolen by an unknown party, like Vigilance was stolen by the Crows? Did the Warden-Commander lose it somehow?

I mean, assuming it was used to slay the Archdemon, as it did in the hands of my Arcane Warrior, it would become a very coveted object.

The real reason behind this rambling is mine is I'm wondering whether I'd break the lore if I modded the game to import Starfang into Awakening for my "this is my save I'll import into DA2" play. I do really love the weapon. Looks so damned awesome in the hands of a mage. :D

The Customs and Excise of the Arling of Amaranthine confiscated it as contraband.

In my personal canon, it was stolen by Darkspawn when you charged the Archdemon, considering you used a random sword on the ground to kill it. Considering how many times I got swarmed, maybe a Hurlock went "Oh, shiny" and snatched it.
Of course, the meta-reason is that it just doesn't import.

I was most pissed when it didn't import into Awakenings but I had blood armour...sigh.

I LOVED that sword.

I kept telling myself that it melted when I drove it through the Archdemon's brain.

My Warden lost it in a fanfiction mishap.

Unless somebody changes their minds again, I understand that Witch Hunt is the last DLC for DAO. It's probably safe to do whatever you like with it and canon will remain silent on the matter.

Due to the vigilance bug (awakening), you can at least get another sword that looks like starfang, even though its not supposed to.

It's a shame that starfang doesn't import. Knowing ahead of time, I usually end up selling it once a tier 7 version of Maric's sword is available or my arcane warrior gets spellweaver.

True. But Starfang does exist in the DA2 files, or so I'm told. I don't know the item ID of it so I haven't had a chance to play with it. I have played with Vigilance in DA2 - that's how I accidentally gave myself the Level 20 achievement before I really started the game, just so I could get the stats to wield it. Which is why I think both swords will show up in a DLC for DA2. I just hope that the 2H Vigilance isn't the only one available.

As for Spellweaver vs. Starfang... I still prefer Starfang. Has 3 rune slots vs 2, is tier 8 vs tier 6, and it increases your attack. Worked better for my Arcane Warrior build anyway.

Due to the vigilance bug (awakening), you can at least get another sword
that looks like starfang, even though its not supposed to.

There's an easy fix for this on DANexus, and also another one that makes the 2H Vigilance's apppearance make more sense (you'll notice that the Warden's second hand is on thin air behind the pommel!). If I'm going around fixing bugs with mods, I figure why not have Starfang tide me over until I get Vigilance rather than that craptacular Warden's Companion.

I'd love to see a DLC where you kill a Crow that has Vigilance on him.

I'd love it too, but I only play mages and rogues, so sadly I won't be able to continue the blade's legacy! :(

Wow, hitting one of my favorite "annoyances" about DAO (even f there aren't that much), I also was quite upset when I lost it, loved that sword on my dual wield noble human warrior.

And yeah, 6 months are quite some timespan from the End of Origins to the beginning of Awakening, so this gives it a lot of room for speculations what could have happend to it.

In my case, my warden has buried it somewhere underneath a nice tree in a nice landscape that just has recovered from the blight because it reminded him too much about the hardships he had to go through while DAO.

Since that problem is easily fixed on the PC my Warden never parted with Starfang and never will.

Starfang was made out of Kryptonite, and between Origins and Awakening, the Warden meets the baby from the meteor and used the kryptonite sword to kill him. :)

I think I'll just carry it through using a mod, as there's no sword that outclasses it until Vigilance, and I refuse to use it during Witch Hunt, as that's set well after its theft. I remember that we were told that Starfang would be rapidly outclassed in Awakening, when that's dead wrong - at least for the 1H versions.

Do we ever find out WHEN the crows steal Vigilance?

If DLC doesn't import to awakening... why is cailan's armour still in my game? O_o

Some DLC stuff imports.
Nothing from Warden's Keep, outside of the Tainted Blood abilities import.
Only PCs can import stuff from Stone Prisoner.
Return to Ostagar imports on everything.

The DA2 codex entry states it was stolen from Vigil's Keep - which would mean it'd have to be while the Warden was still there, and I believe WH is set 1.5 years after Awakening, when the Warden had already left?

It's gotten in DA at least in Act 1, which is well after Awakening, and likely after Witch Hunt.

I assumed it got left in the Archdemon's face, because the Warden picks up a random sword from the ground to finish him off. I was pretty sad about that when I started up Awakenings too.
