Right, so I'm having a rather bothersome issue with my game. I own a physical copy of Dragon Age: Origins, which I purchased brand-new from a respectable gaming store. Now, I've had no issue with playing the game before - only a few hours ago was I playing. However, since I started up my computer this evening to play, the game refuses to start.

(Should probably note that nothing was done to my computer within the time of playing earlier and trying to play now, other than connecting to the internet.)

I am able to get to the launch screen without any issues, however when I hit 'Play', the game window opens to a black screen, stays with the little 'loading' circle for a cursor for about five seconds or so before saying "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working". It gives me the option ot finding a solution and closing the program, or just closing the program. Here are some further details on the error message:

(Sorry if that's a bit messy - I copy/pasted)

As I'm not much of a techhead, I have no idea what any of this means, and while I've entered this data into Google to try and get a result, nothing has popped up. From various other forums and other threads on this forum, I've deduced that this could be solved by updating, reinstalling, and downloading a specific microsoft update. I have done all three of these things, and yet I still face this issue.

If it's any assistance, here are my computer's basic statistics:

HP Pavilion dv6-3132TX Notebook
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7 1.6GHz
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 1GB
RAM: 4GB

Please let me know if you need any more information, and if there's anything else I can do. It would greatly be appreciated.

APPCRASH is usually caused by some sort of clash that caused a registry corruption. More often than not it's viruses and spyware that causes it. You'll want to uninstall the DAO first (you won't lose your saves) and then after it in uninstalled do a full system scan with a virus and spyware remover if you don't have one i reccomend PC Tools Spyware Doctor which also includes antivirus. Make sure you do a full scan and not the quick scan options. When it's done remove anything it finds and then reinstall the program to see if it works. If you still get the APPCRASH you may have a clash of programs elsewhere but you claim to not have installed anything different from when it worked so sounds like not the case.

If it's still not working after this a clean boot might help. You can find information about that here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 there is also a program right there you can run which will help you find any issues between programs and may help you find what it causing your game grief.

Good luck!
