I loaded the plainum game on a windows 7 fine. It's loaded on C drive. I can crit update 1.66 and get online with no access to any servers. When I load 1.69 crit rebuild and hit play, the game shuts down before it can launch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

It's always better if the full configuration specs are furnished in these inquiries just in case it is a hardware or driver issue.  Laptops/notepads present their own subset of issues due to integrated components.  Please follow the recommendation on the Starts Here sticky to expedite the resolution of your problem.

However, without knowing any of the specifics, I would suspect either the way you installed the game for Win7 OS, a soundcard issue (yes... really!) or whether your current graphic driver supports OpenGL or not.

Thanks for the quick reply.it is the retail cd platinum game. win 7 os. i have a desktop with athalon ii x2 240 with 3 gig ram and a Ge force6450se nforce 430 video card and real tech high def audio. I installed the revert patch to 1.68 and everthing works fine. I can even play on a couple servers online but most are closed to me. Is there anyway to manipulate 1.69 to play? I hit the shortcut then play. the eye comes up for a for a few secs then it all shuts down with 1.69

This is from Shia's Win7 installation tips sticky:

"6. (If you want a desktop shortcut)  Right click on nwnmain.exe and create a shortcut. Drag and drop this to your desktop."

Did you follow all the Win7 suggestions (like this one) when you installed?

I was able to install regularly, shortcut and all. The only problem arose when I installed crit rebuild 1.69 but that was resolved by giving full permissions to nwnmain.exec. Thank you, all is well now.
