Personally, I love this loot system.
I think a lot of gamers get into a Monty Haul mindset when playing games.
I like the fact that I get a little excited at level 12 to find a minor healing potion. It might keep Alister on his feet for a few more minutes in that tough battle coming up.
One thing I didn't like was all of the prepurchase/DJ/Character Creator loot - I ended up selling it on most of my characters to make the rings of "+1 to" one stat feel more useful. I found that all of that early excellent loot removed incentive to get the small increases items.
