How far must the chantry go before you would feel they must be stopped?

I won't stop them from killing apostate mages because I'm not a mage.
Which might result in "Hey look they just murdered my entire village and there was no one left to help bummer".
So at what point do you feel enough is enough?

The populace loves the Chantry a lot more than some people would like. Hoping to make it so doesn't make it so. I'ts singular that the same people that bleat about judging all mages by the acts of a very few in the same breath want to wipe out the Chantry, an institution that does a lot of good because they don't like some of them.

I am surprised how much they get away with just because they are a religion.
How long will the maker told me to be an excuse?

Apostates do result in "Hey look, they just murdered an entire village and there was no one left to help bummer". As seen in Redcliffe.

Yes, I do. Unless I want to roleplay someone who has an actual reason to care.Gamer Ftw wrote...
So I take it you are ignoring the whole elven massacre?

And what's the point of this discussion? How can we turn this fantasy world a copy of our own as quickly as possible?metalcraze33 wrote...

well fair enough but my point was who will they lead an exalted march against next?
Or what group will they decide they have a problem with because they don't believe in the maker or share their values?
I believe the point is discussing the chantry Klarabella if you don't wish to no one is forcing you.
also I was not aware the real world had elves or mages or anything we are discussing.

Yes, because according to the lore most humans barely tolerate elves. Why should my characters be any different?Gamer Ftw wrote...

Massacre? And nothing to warrant such a reaction at all either? Right-o.

Look, you can say 'lol u dun care about elves' all you like, but the elves had their own army that defeated the forces of Orlais . It was war, not some evil plot by the Chantry to kill the peace-loving elves. There were a lot of brutal battles and losses on both sides, but that's what happens when two nations go to war.

I wonder if blood magic is even as dangerous as they would lead people to beilieve.
I consider them huge hypocrites because they spout " magic must serve man and not rule over him'
Then lock spirit healers in a tower.

I don't quite follow your line of reasoning.

That is exactly what i just said they lock spirit healers in a tower so they can't serve man.
I really can't make it any clearer.

I reread your post and I understand what you are saying that Spirit healers do help people but the templars lock them up anyway. You are right in this case.

You want me to be someone in the setting? In that case, my ability to stop the Chantry is akin to a mouse's fart in a hurricane.
Am I Hawke? I have more important concerns than stopping the Chantry. If anything, I'd like to ally with the Chantry.
Am I Maria? There are real world religions whose dogma I strongly disagree with and see as harmful, but I would never attempt to destroy them. People should be free to believe in a religion of their choosing and no one should be hurt or killed because their faith is different from my own.
To be sure, I see the Chantry as more benevolent than its real world, medieval counterparts.

I would never attempt to destroy them IF their beliefs weren't oppressing and causing harm to others.
After all Hawke's family mages to be free apostates and don't get posessed by demons or turn to blood magic.
why shouldn't they be allowed to live a normal life?

There are real world examples of people's beliefs being oppressive or harmful to others. What are you going to do about that?Gamer Ftw wrote...
