How do you roleplay the consequences for choosing blood magic/reaver?

I always felt like there should be consequences to learning these skills. Of course there are none in the game and that reduces some of the immersion I think. To counter that I do a bit of roleplaying. If I want to be a blood mage or a reaver, I support Merrill in all of her choices to deal with the demon for furthering her research. Then I roleplay that she helps me learn these arts via the demon. The consequences are that Marethari gets possessed in Merrill's place and you have to slaughter the entire dalish clan.

You don't have to kill the clan ... but there is no consequence like getting the Reaver spec in Origins.

Really? After supporting Merrill and having Marethari die, I can never talk them down from attacking. I am always forced to kill them.

Tell them you will take responsibility. You promise to take Merrill away where she won't hurt the clan again.

You become a reaver by drinking dragon blood right? Whats is so evil about that? I mean sure they are an endangered species, but i don't think Thedas their own version of WWF.

Prior to, you defile the Sacred Ashes. Plus, some party members don't play nice with that.

How do you roleplay it? Not at all, because the Game isn't allowing you to "roleplay" it. Makes no differance which spec you choose.

Wrong. You become a Reaver with the Aid of a demonic spirit. Kolgrim, if you talk with the Guardian about how the Dragon Blood to come into existance, tells you about Kolgrim being very, very old.

He does teach you how to make a pact with a Demonic Spirit to become a Reaver in exchange for defiling the ashes with Dragon Blood.

Reaver isn't a "Grey Warden Copy" its what happens if a Warrior makes a Pakt with a Demon.

The in-game description  in DA2 states you become a reaver by drinking ritually prepared dragon's blood. So yes, it is the dragon version of a grey warden.  Which is also what is portrayed when you aid Kolgrim and unlock the spec in Origins. The only thing that doesn't jive is the origins in-game description. Blood magic may be invoilved in the ritual preparation, but blood magic does not necessarily involve demons, it's just the most likely source to learn it since it's forbidden.

Usually once I take Reaver or Blood Mage I'll head to the BE Mirror and add the blood stripe tattoo...but that's about it.

I think blood magic/reaver specs were there just to please the fans of it from the previous game, honestly. It's very poorly done.

I don't take them because doing so ruins what little immension there is for me, personally. But, if I were to roleplay acquireing either, I'd go with learning it from evil tomes, or by making a bargain with a demon in the fade during Night terrors quest.

I wished that some of my companions had commented on my doing blood magic. I just pretend that they did and since I went down the rivalry path with Fenris and Anders I can pretend it is partly because of the blood magic. Also since I was friends with Merrill I image she helped me learn blood magic. I did miss being able to learn specializations from party members and NPCs though, I want more daggers flying around will nilly for a time.

Reaver is one of the best specialization for the Warrior and I always take it. Shame about your companions not reacting to your choice of training, or even that you learn things from your companions. That said, if there are consequences to your learning Reaver there should also be consequences to learning Templar (which in DA2 are more evil than Kolgrim ever was).

I don't. Role playing with a computer. What's the point?

Yea its disapointing there are no consequences.
I felt guilty using the reaver spec because you're basically part demon and nobody acknowledges it.

I'm devouring people in public and everybody is acting like its normal. It would of added more depth if I got negative approval from using my Reaver skills.
