I know we can break with Liara, and just be her friend. So no consequence in M3. But if you cheating Liara, I think she will become darker as the shadowbroker.

@ Big : Ok, then, we agree. ^^

Another curiosity is if we'd be able to pursue a full flown romance with Samara if we started to break the ice in ME2....

Sorry but Samara will be not a romance. She clearly respects its code, and forever. It's just a flirt, an impossible love like Aveline in DA2.

Samara says that her code doesn't forbid her from having a romance she just personally doesn't want to in ME2 but the possability is out there even if it is slim.

Are you sure ? It seems to me its code forbids her from owning anything. The relationship with others is one. She couldn't have lovers.

She has only one purpose, to accomplish its mission and follow its code.

I think it'll be the case of both romances ME1/ME2 having fulfillment (well hopefully)

but if you remained loyal to ME1 perhaps you get a different outcome if you dont "cheat".

if you "cheat" before you go back to them (if you can), not so. Thats my understanding of the info given.

I dont think Bioware will shaft the ME2 romances *fingers crossed*

Well someone's overly-sensitive

And you think I said everything ? My god, I'm worse my boy. After chocolate, I throw my console out the window, I set fire to my house and I go out and kill people to let off steam.

So I think you're still far from the truth. Posted Image

@ExtremeOne did I miss something?

Thanks for the replies. It will be quite interesting to see how everything winds up with Ash/Kaid in ME3. My wife has a game for Kaiden and I have a few games for Ash/Liara/Tali. As stated earlier, fingers crossed for extensive romance with ME2 as opposed to simply an excuse to get laid.

A full out romance that's engaging and emotional is what I want - kind of like a Revan/Bastila (not sure about Carth) ending in Bioware standards. Obviously, LI isn't core plot-line like in Xenogears, but I think that's a great opportunity to further flesh out Shepard's persona.

It is stupid because if Bioware forces you to have issues over who your Shepard wants to F in the games. That should be a player's choice and one that has no punishment. If the end of Mass Effect 1 and 2 means nothing then who ever one wants to F should mean nothing. If I can have a full romance with Miranda in 3 then I will be happy but I swear if Liara sticks her nose in it like she does in LOTSB or that B*tch Ashley sticks her nose in it I will be pissed

And so that's why it's stupid ? Posted Image

If it is the fulfillment of your romance with Miranda bothers you, do not worry you will get it.

But for Ashley/liara it will be a bit complicated. Bioware has always said there would be negative consequences for those who have cheated on their romance. And now you play the surprise ?

Actually Shep can specifically ask Samara about whether or not the code forbids romance.  She states it does not, but that time in her life is over.

Samara will not romance Shep in ME2 because she is not willing to revist that aspect of her life.  She probably has too many bad memories associated to previous attempts at romance.

If cheating on someone has consequences then it's just being realistic.  This sort of realism is what makes the game more cinematic and immersive than it would otherwise be.

I don't think anyone's going to get 'punished' for it, though. It will just mean different dialogue and different parts of the game will open up depending on what has gone before. That's the primary attraction of Mass Effect, for me, the fact that past actions impact future events. It's the essence of roleplaying.

Regards

Julian

If you don't want to deal with the fallout, just don't romance anyone in ME1...simple.

When I found out about romance options in ME2, I don't want any fallout in ME3, so went and re-played ME1 minus any romance, then ME2 again....a solution.

What about being "loyal" to Tali or Garrus? It's not our fault they were not romance options until ME2. Choosing one of them (no romance in ME) should be an option as valid as choosing Ashley, Liara or Kaidan. Shepard knows them from the first game as well.

Agreed. It doesn't matter who you romanced, unless you cheated, you should be able to have a decent continuation into ME3 with whoever you went with, be it miranda, tali, or liara.

Well in Lair of the Shadow Broker, Liara has like one line if you romance someone else in ME2. She's not upset at all, and you can just end the romance then and there.

Now, I could see Ashley getting more upset than Liara, however, I don't expect that Ashley/Kaiden are going to be up in arms over Shepard not being faithful.

I hope have the option to lean it one way, like 'well it's been 2 years'... you know to make it so it's not 100% negative reaction on the game.

But save games have a flag for flirting with Kelly. Thus, this mostly likely would be transferred to ME3. It's up to the writers whether it would change just a couple of dialogue lines or the whole romance subplot.

Maybe. But in my opinion Kelly will be considered only as entertainment. Shepard has no feeling for her, so he will not talk about her, unlike her romance with Miranda, Tali or Jack for who he has true feelings..

Kelly may well be just a one night flirtation.

Sure, she may. I'm just sain' this as least can be transferred to ME3 and somehow referenced there, so we would have to play 100% to find out for sure. :)

Flirting with Kelly comes off as pretty creepy anyway.:P

Her response makes me think of women who tell their mates that it is ok to do something (like go out with his buddies) and then later the putz pays ... He should have read her mind that says "If you do (insert action here) then you better sleep with one eye open."
