I cant 'connect to the database'. I found an entry for this in the toolset wiki under older bugs, but it didnt offer any solutions, and there are none here. I suppose if I knew the first thing about SQL, the tip to manage it through another service would be useful? But I dont.
I've already reinstalled, cleared the tools folder, got a fresh copy of the toolset, installed that, noticed no change, and replaced the old tools folder just in case. The error is supposed to result from using the wrong windows account to launch the toolset, but I've only got the one.
I dont need a toolset, but it would be nice to be able to tweak things now and then.
Any help would be appreciated.

When you right click on the toolset you should see a "Run As Administrator" option. Make sure this is how you are running it.
Also, you can try to right click on "Computer" and select manage. Under "Services and Applications" click "Services" and check to make sure the MSSQL service is indeed running.

zignuz, from what I have seen on the forums there's a whole host of other problems for Windows XP that is not SP3. So your problem could be something else.
If you can't connect to the database and it installed correctly, it could be the same issue that Garisi has. The procedure should be the same, it is just "My Computer" instead of "Computer".

zignuz:
Did you check if the sql-services run?
Did u check the sql configuration manager if connections to the db are allowed? (usually TCP/IP is used)
Did you check if any firewall installed blocks your connect? (some tools allways try to connect "from outside" via TCP/IP and thus get blocked)
