Going to dual-class Shar-Teel when she hits 7th level fighter and take her to 8th level thief. Question is, I realize even dual-classed that she can only do theiving skills in thief-type armor (i.e. Mithril Chain) but does this apply for her shield use as well?  Once she hits 8th level thief and has access to both classes, do I have to use a buckler with her or does the game engine allow a large shield and use thieving skills if dual-classed?

The shield restriction is separate from armour. Once you have regained fighter abilities you will be able to use any shield and still use thief skills.
