Hey, I was just wondering if JE is worth me buying, Ive played ME, DA ,KOTOR and all of there sequals (execept awakening) and loved all of  them, I realise that anyone posting on this thread are most likely fans and will say 'yes!' so could you give a brief over-veiw of what it's like Gameplay and graphic-wise.  I play on PC. Thanks in advance .

Roleplaying involves pretty interesting dialogue, but only two moral choices to quests, Open-palm (kind) and Closed Fist (harsh) choices. Both paths are different and the different solutions to quests make the game interesting to replay. There are three ability scores that affect combat stats, and three conversation skills linked directly to those ability scores. There is companion dialogue and romance, but it is fairly simple.

Combat if fun, fast and fluid real-time action involving martial arts techniques, combos and fire, cold and shapeshifting magic to name a few. You can use axes, swords or spears, and there a few upgrades for each throughout the game.

Sound and graphics were beautiful for its time, and still look nice today.

The story is well-told and has twists, but is fairly cliche.

This and this thread in the old BioBoards have more opinions.

There are 3 different endings to the game which also adds to replay value.

It is a great game, a masterpiece...
Consider it is also one of the last game of the old Bioware (before EA... before it became BiowEA)...

If I had a choice between ME3 or a JE2, I'd probably go with ME3 because we haven't heard anything about JE2, aside from the fact that it may have been in the works, so I'd feel more secure getting ME3. Although, JE is like a diamond in the rough, and it's one of the best games I have ever played because of the deeper meanings to Open Palm and Closed Fist.

I'll give an example of a situation dealing with these methods.

You see a man being mocked and beaten, well if you are following the way of the Open Palm, you are more likely to help him because he is too weak to defend himself, which in doing this, you better him and keep a balance. Following the Open Palm is a way to help keep balance in ones own station. If you follow the way of the Closed Fist, you may help the man because the group of men beating him do not give him a direct measure to test his strength, or he could leave him there because he isn't worth helping if he can't defend himself. Closed Fist is all about challenging your station in life and trying to be better either by force or the manipulation of others.

Jade Empire is a very good game. it's not perfect but it's a lot of fun, has a great story, great characters and one of the best holy crap moments in any game ever

The whole game had mood established throughout. I personally didn't even for a second not feel I was fully transported into its world.

I think it was the first Bioware RPG that started portraying morality as something not entirely black and white, as the path of the closed fist wasn't a stereotypically 'evil' path.

Jade Empire is placed in an exotic setting [i.e. China]. If you like an RPG that's not set in a typical western RPG setting ala DAO/BG, you'll like JE.

Ah, to hell with it. I've been thinking of buying the damn thing for some time and this thread has tipped me over the edge.

Curse you all for the impending loss of free time this is about to cause. :P

In my opinion Jade Empire is fine game with good story. Yes, it's worth of playing. How ever, have patience as learning the combat system, because it maybe little confusing at first, until you learn how to use it well.

In a word, yes.

Get Jade empire, its short, but beautiful, proof that Bioware can craft not just fantastic stories but worlds too (long before they gave us Thedas).

Its a wonderful game, too short and not properly loved in its own time its tragic that the status of "cult hit" will mean it will likely never get a sequel.
