And after the DLC fiasco the memory leak/level loading issues have returned. In force.
I've noticed a lag in gameplay, too. As if I'm playing an online game and my connection is slow, so there's lag between my actions and game resolution.
I think it's been this ridiculous DRM in the first place.

So you're blaming memory leak on DRM? Two things that have nothing to do with each other. I think people really do like throwing around the words memory leak when talking about Dragon Age Origins issues without understanding what it really means and what caused it in the first place.

They don't? Explain how they don't. For one, the leak has never been cured. The game has an unusual lag that you only see in online games. Do the math. Wanna bet if the DRM is gone it's smoother?

Lot's of games use DRM these days. name 10 games that have an unusual lag caused by DRM and i'll believe your theory.
Memory leak is an issue caused by the engine itself not releasing memory after it is done using it and over a period of time you have less memory to work with because your memory is being told it's still being used when it is not. The majority of it's issues were solved with patching but some do persist. However it's not nearly as bad as when the game came out and the loading times got ridiculous.
It's common for people to blame issues on memory leak without understanding what it really is when usually it's their own poor computer maintenence that slows down their games over time.
